3 years ago, I officiated the Service of a wonderful Lady. Terri was a very good friend of a friend of mine ( that I had known since childhood). Carole had told Terri about me, showed her my social media and she decided she wanted to meet me, to discuss her funeral wishes.
This Lady knew exactly what she wanted, the vibe, the music, the tone and she clearly wanted her exact wishes to be followed and that is exactly what I wanted to help her achieve and is what my role is all about.
We talked for quite a while, until she became too tired to speak more. That conversation, had me laughing, I had tears in my eyes and wishing that I had known this wonderful Lady. She was terminally ill but you could still see that sparkle she had.
We decided that I would be dressed as a funeral
Referee, complete with red and yellow cards and a whistle. She was a massive Ipswich Town FC fan. Everyone could wear football shirts but I told everyone that if they dared to wear their rival team Norwich’s shirt, I had permission to give them a red card. They could pick another shirt from a box of them or they would be escorted out!
I will never forget Terri ( arriving with a blue tractor to honour Ipswich- ‘The Tractor boys.’) or her funeral Service. RIP amazing Lady ❤️💙🤍
