🫖🍰 It’s National Afternoon Tea Week! 🍰🫖

There’s something rather special about putting the kettle on, getting the biscuits (or cake!) out and sitting down for a good old chat. ❤️

At Visiting Angels Barnet & Enfield, we know that afternoon tea isn’t just about the tea and cake — it’s about company, conversation and connection.

For many older people, having someone to sit with, share a cup of tea with, reminisce about the past, laugh together and simply enjoy some company can make such a difference to their day. ☕💕

Our caregivers aren’t simply there to provide care. They become familiar faces, trusted companions and, often, wonderful friends.

Because sometimes the most important part of a visit is simply sitting down together and saying:

“How do you take your tea?” 🥰

This National Afternoon Tea Week, why not put the kettle on and enjoy a cuppa with someone you love? And if they could use a little more company and support at home, our Angels are here to help. 👼❤️

“I don’t want a carer coming into my home…”

We hear this a lot. There can be a stigma around having a carer. People can feel like it means they’re no longer independent, that someone is coming into their home to “look after them”, or that things have changed.

But what if we looked at it differently? 🥰

A carer isn’t just a carer.

They can be the person who pops in for a cup of tea ☕
The person who listens to the same story for the third time and still smiles ❤️
The person who goes for a little walk with you 🚶‍♀️
The person who helps you with the things you find difficult, while encouraging you to do the things you can do yourself.
The person who makes you laugh.
The person who knows your favourite biscuits. 🍪
The person you look forward to seeing.

We aren't there to take over someone's life. We're there to support the life they already have. 💜

So maybe instead of saying “I have a carer coming round”, we can start saying:

“My friend is coming round.” 🥰

Because behind every care visit is a person who genuinely wants to make someone's day a little brighter.

Care isn't just about care.
It's about people.
It's about connection.
It's about companionship.
It's about friendship. 💜

💙 Talk to Us Month 💙

Sometimes, the most powerful thing we can do is simply ask, "How are you?" – and truly listen to the answer.

At Visiting Angels Barnet & Enfield, we know that conversations can make a real difference. Whether it's sharing a worry, talking through a difficult day, or simply enjoying a friendly chat over a cup of tea, no one should feel they have to face things alone.

This Talk to Us Month, let's encourage open conversations about mental health, reduce stigma, and remind each other that it's okay to talk.

A small conversation today could make a big difference to someone's tomorrow. 💙

We're delighted to celebrate our Carer of the Month for June – the wonderful Nasiib! 🌟

In the five months she has been with us, Nasiib has shown incredible growth in getting to know her clients, understanding their individual needs, and learning their daily routines. Her dedication, compassion, and commitment to providing outstanding care have not gone unnoticed.

It was a pleasure to celebrate her achievement at our staff meeting, where we presented her with a well-deserved wellbeing hamper. 🎉

Congratulations, Nasiib, and thank you for everything you do. We’re so proud to have you as part of our team! 💙

This week, the office team came together for an evening of pizza, laughter, and celebration after receiving our very first overall CQC rating of GOOD! 🎉🍕

This achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and teamwork shown by everyone over the past year. We've grown from a team of just 2 to 4, and it was important to take the time to recognise the commitment that went into preparing for the inspection and the months of hard work leading up to it.

A huge thank you to Jose for treating us to pizza and helping us celebrate this fantastic milestone. Here's to many more successes together! 👏

Another fantastic turnout from our Angel Carers, both new and existing team members, for our face-to-face Manual Handling Training.

These practical sessions give our Angels the opportunity to learn and build confidence in using the equipment our clients rely on every day. Training together also allows them to share experiences, discuss any challenges, and support one another while developing their skills.

From using a hoist and Sara Steady to sliding sheets, our carers are gaining the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to use this equipment safely, correctly, and effectively—helping us continue to provide the highest standard of care to our clients.

🎉 Celebrating 3 Amazing Years of Katie! 💙👼

A huge congratulations to our incredible Care Coordinator, Katie, who has now completed 3 years with Visiting Angels Barnet & Enfield!

Katie joined us as a new Care Coordinator and, over the past three years, has supported more than 60 Angel carers, while coordinating the care and visits for all of our clients. She works tirelessly to ensure every client receives the right support, at the right time, with the right carer. From organising rotas and matching carers to clients, to arranging training, shadowing, and always being at the end of the phone when someone needs help, Katie goes above and beyond every single day.

Last year, Katie stepped up in an incredible way, helping to hold the office together while a new Registered Manager was being recruited. During this time, she took on additional responsibilities, completed managerial training, and is now nearing the completion of her Level 5 Leadership and Management qualification.

Katie is a true asset to our team and the very definition of an Angel. She regularly goes out into the community to support clients herself—not because she has to, but because she genuinely cares and always wants to make a difference.

Katie, thank you for your unwavering dedication, compassion, and commitment over the past three years. We are incredibly lucky to have you as part of our team and are so grateful for everything you do.

💙 Bereaved Parents Awareness Month 💙

This month, we stand alongside all bereaved parents and families who are living with the unimaginable loss of a child.

Grief has no timeline, and every parent's journey is unique. A simple act of kindness, a listening ear, or remembering their child can mean more than words can express.

At Visiting Angels, we believe in caring for the whole person with compassion, empathy and understanding. Today, and every day, we send love and support to all bereaved parents, reminding them that they are not alone.

💙❤️ Our amazing Team Leader, Emma, is taking part in the Alzheimer's Research UK Walk on Sunday 5th July at Alexandra Palace to help raise money for such an important cause.

Every day we see the impact dementia has on the people we care for and their families, so this cause is one that is very close to our hearts.
