It's completely normal to arrive at your consultation with a treatment in mind.

Perhaps you've seen it on social media.
Perhaps a friend had it.
Perhaps you've researched it extensively.

But the most appropriate treatment isn't chosen by trend, it's chosen by assessment.

My responsibility is to understand why you're considering that treatment and whether it will actually achieve the result you're hoping for.

Sometimes, the answer is yes.

Sometimes, there's a better option.

That's why every consultation starts with a conversation, not a syringe.

Many of you arrive wanting to 'fix' a single feature.

But faces work as a whole.

Improving one area without considering facial balance can create unnatural results.

During your consultation, I assess harmony, proportion, and movement before making recommendations.

Natural results happen when we treat the person, not the isolated wrinkle or line.

People are often surprised by how many questions I ask before discussing treatment.

That's because your face doesn't exist in isolation.

I want to understand:

Your concerns
Your medical history
Previous treatments
Lifestyle
Skin health
What result are you actually hoping to achieve

Two people asking for the same treatment may need completely different plans.

Listening is part of the treatment.

MY PERIORAL DERMATITIS RESET | UPDATE

I knew I didn’t need to do more.

I needed to do less, calm the skin, and give my barrier a chance to recover.

For the last month, this is what I’ve personally used, and the little bit of science behind why:

NO ACTIVES
I stopped acids, retinoids, and anything potentially irritating. Perioral dermatitis is associated with barrier dysfunction, so my priority was reducing irritation rather than throwing more at it.

CLINISOOTHE MIST
This contains hypochlorous acid, a molecule naturally produced by our immune system. I used it as a gentle mist when my skin felt irritated, simple, no complicated cocktail of ingredients.

DERMALUX LED
I kept my LED routine going. LED phototherapy uses specific wavelengths of light to interact with skin cells, and I wanted something non-invasive while I was stripping my topical routine right back.

TOLERIANE CLEANSER
A gentle, non-stripping cleanse. No scrubbing. No “deep cleaning” my skin into submission.

CICAPLAST BAUME
When my skin needed comfort, I used this for barrier support.

ZINC OXIDE / SUDOCREM (yes, 🍑 cream)
This was something I personally found soothing on the irritated areas. Zinc oxide acts as a protective barrier, helping reduce irritation.

And that was basically it.

No skin cycling.
No exfoliation.
No panic buying.
No adding five new products because I wanted it gone yesterday. 😂

Just less stimulation + consistency + patience.

Honestly, this experience has reinforced something I say all the time in aesthetics:

More treatment does not automatically mean better skin.

Sometimes, the most intelligent thing you can do for your skin is recognise when it needs less.

This is my personal experience, not medical advice, perioral dermatitis can have different triggers and sometimes needs professional diagnosis or prescription treatment.

But if your skin is currently angry, reactive, and completely overwhelming you…

Maybe before you add another product, ask yourself:

“Does my skin actually need more, or does it need me to stop fighting it?” 🤍

There’s a post I’ve seen recently that said:

“If women woke up tomorrow and loved their bodies, imagine how many businesses would go bankrupt.”

And it made me pause.

Would aesthetics?

For me, and for the women who are drawn to my work, I actually believe the answer is no.

Because the women I work with aren’t coming to me because they hate how they look.

They’re coming to me because they love themselves enough to take care of themselves.

That distinction matters.

The best work we do together isn’t about changing someone into a different version of themselves. It’s about helping them remain themselves for as long as possible.

They don’t want to look 20 in their 40s.

They don’t want to chase every new trend.

They don’t want the same face as everyone else.

They don’t want to erase every line, every expression, every sign that they’ve lived.

They want longevity.

They want to understand their skin.

They want to learn how to care for themselves properly, right down to the cellular level.

They want to age well.

Most importantly, they want to still look like them.

That’s the kind of aesthetics I’m proud to be part of.

I’m not here to be another enabler of women’s insecurities.

I’m not interested in creating a constant feeling that there is something wrong with you that needs fixing.

I want the opposite.

I want to empower women.

To educate them.

To help them understand their skin and their ageing process.

To encourage them to invest in themselves from a place of self-respect, not self-rejection.

And perhaps most importantly, to help them see the beauty that was already there before social media, filters, trends, and unrealistic beauty standards started telling them they needed to change.

Because there is nothing wrong with wanting to look after yourself.

There is something very different about being made to believe you are never enough.

Aesthetics, to me, should never be about creating insecurity.

It should be about care.

Longevity.

Education.

And helping women feel more at home in the face they see in the mirror.

That’s the work I’m proud to do. 🤍

Most people think LED therapy is just a relaxing add-on. It's not.

After microneedling, a peel and injectables, your skin is in active repair mode, and Dermalux accelerates it:

⚡️633nm red light → stimulates collagen + elastin
⚡️ 830nm near-infrared → calms inflammation, cuts downtime

Result: less redness, faster healing, better long-term results.

Dermalux is medical-grade, licensed for acne, rosacea, psoriasis, & wound healing.

I'm not just treating your skin, Im strategically supporting how it heals. ✨

A little announcement I’m excited to share…

After 15 years working in Emergency Medicine, I’ve made a decision.

I’ve reduced my NHS hours.🥹

And honestly? I have ALL the feelings about it.

I feel incredibly lucky to have built the career I have. A degree, a Masters, advanced qualifications, years of additional training, endless shifts, nights, weekends, exams, pressure, tears, stress… and a whole lot of sacrifice.

I don’t say that to boast. I say it because I know how privileged I am to have earned it.

But I’ve also realised that sometimes the career you work incredibly hard for can become the very thing that leaves you with very little of yourself.

For years, I’ve hidden behind being busy.
My NHS career. My studies. My qualifications. Life.

And, if I’m completely honest, I’ve probably used that busyness as an excuse to call Metanoia my “expensive hobby”.

Because it was easier to say that than to admit that this little business I created means so much more to me than that.

I want to be very clear: this does NOT mean I’m leaving the NHS.

I’ve worked far too hard for my advanced qualifications, and I genuinely love Emergency Medicine.

But I also have the privilege of being able to shape my shifts around Kieran, and I want to create something that allows me to have a healthier balance between my NHS work, my clinic and my home life.

And that means it’s time to take the business of Metanoia seriously.
It’s time to pour into this little baby.

To give it the time, energy, and attention it deserves.

And, more importantly, to give YOU the time, energy, and attention you deserve.

I’m so incredibly grateful for the trust you’ve placed in me over the years. For every treatment, every conversation, every recommendation, every message, every person who has walked through my doors.

I don’t take any of it for granted.

So this is me, tentatively stepping into a new chapter…

A little relieved.
A little scared.
Very excited.
And probably about to learn A LOT about the logistics of actually running a business. 😂

Metanoia is growing.

And I’m finally ready to grow with it.

Here’s to giving this little business t
