🌿 Weekend reminder

You don’t have to use the weekend to “catch up” on yourself.

You don’t have to be productive.
You don’t have to make plans.
You don’t have to socialise.
You don’t have to have everything worked out.

Sometimes looking after your mental health looks like:

☕ Having a slow morning
📱 Putting your phone down for a while
🌳 Getting outside for some fresh air
🛋️ Resting without feeling guilty
💭 Giving yourself space to process how you’re really feeling
❤️ Saying no to something when you’re already running on empty

Happy weekend everyone 😊

⭐️ waiting list in action ⭐️

I’m at my capacity again for taking on new clients and very unlikely to be able to take on anyone new until around the middle of August at the earliest.

Thank you to everyone for your ongoing support with my private practice. ☺️

The side of working in this role that people don’t always realise… late nights after full clinic days. The work doesn’t stop after the therapeutic hour.

💬 Client progress notes

💬 Reflections

💬 Replying to emails and queries

💬 Free introductory calls with individuals exploring whether therapy is right for them

💬 Booking appointments

💬 Planning and researching for future sessions

💬 Preparing for supervision sessions

💬 Continuing Professional Development

I love what I do but sometimes I find it difficult to manage a work-life balance and this is ironic as I spend lots of time discussing this very thing with clients 😂

Managing work around family and personal life/commitments can be hard sometimes.

I just wanted to share a bit of an honest insight to what it can be like working in Private Practice.

How much of today are we spending in tomorrow?

It’s natural to think ahead. We make plans, set goals, organise calendars, and prepare for what’s next.

But sometimes, without noticing, we begin living almost entirely in the future.

“I’ll relax when…”
“I’ll be happy once…”
“Things will feel better after…”

Future planning can give us purpose, but it can also quietly steal moments from the life we’re living now.

The future isn’t guaranteed. The only place we can actually experience life is here, in the day-to-day.

That doesn’t mean we stop planning. It simply means we don’t have to wait for a future version of life before allowing ourselves moments of peace, joy, connection, or rest.

Planning for tomorrow matters.

But so does being present for today.

☀️ When the sun shines, not everyone feels brighter.

With the warm weather well and truly here, there can be an assumption that we should all be feeling happier, more energetic, and making the most of every sunny day.

But for many people, hot weather and long, bright days can feel surprisingly difficult.

You might notice:

🌿 Feeling irritable or overwhelmed in the heat

🌿 Struggling to sleep during lighter evenings and warmer nights

🌿 Feeling pressure to be social, productive, or “make the most” of summer

🌿 Increased anxiety about body image or appearance

🌿 Feeling isolated while everyone else seems to be enjoying themselves

🌿 A sense that your low mood is somehow “wrong” because the weather is nice

We often talk about the impact of dark winter days on our wellbeing, but summer can bring its own challenges too.

If you’re finding the sunny weather harder than the cold, grey days, you’re not alone. Our emotional experiences don’t always follow the seasons in the way people expect.

Sometimes the brightest days can feel the heaviest.

Be gentle with yourself. It’s ok if your experience of summer looks different from somebody else’s 😌
