Water Royd House is located in Gilroyd, a small village near to Barnsley town centre. Local shops, library, hairdressers, surgery, pharmacy, public house and post office are all closeby. Water Royd House provides accommodation for residents in single rooms with en-suite facilities. All rooms are fully carpeted and decorated to a high standard. Each room contains a television, nurse call system, fi

re detection, bed, and chest of drawers. The home has a well maintained garden and a secluded patio for residents to enjoy in summer months. Parking is available for up to 20 cars.

Love, Laughter and Community sums up our week perfectly here at Water Royd!

We have had the absolute privilege of making and mailing some hand-made cards to celebrate the 100th birthday of a lovely lady in another care home. It has been such a joy to be a small part of such a special milestone and we wish her the happiest of birthdays!

We have also had a special little visitor, Layton. Everybody loves it when Layton comes to visit, he makes everybody smile and he is a brilliant little showman, taking after his mum Chloe our fantastic lifestyle co-ordinator!

Billy Blaze and Alan were absolutely amazing as always! We have loved having you come to perform for us, thank you both! We even took a turn ourselves, inspired by our brilliant guests Billy and Alan and got the karaoke machines out and sang all of our favourite songs, old and new.

What an absolutely fantastic week, we cannot wait to see what next week has in store for us!

We've been having some fun here at Water Royd playing our new board games and getting involved in lots of different types of arts and crafts! We recently got tumbling monkeys and have had so many laughs playing it and getting in the competitive spirit trying to win!

We have also been getting crafty with an assortment of flowers and other decorative bits and bobs and seeing what wonderful things we can create and put on display throughout the home.
Our beautiful resident Odele has been on a little shopping trip with our amazing staff member Andrea and picked out some gorgeous new items of clothing to add to her collection. They had a lovely time in town together and Odele is overjoyed with her purchases.

Our lovely resident Brenda also enjoyed a trip to visit her cousin with our wonderful lifestyle co-ordinator Katy and they had a nice stroll around Locke Park enjoying the sunshine and ended their trip in Locke Park Cafe for a sweet treat.

We've been busy as ever here at Water Royd! We spent some time in the garden enjoying the flowers blooming with the lovely warm weather. The wonderful Rossi's ice cream van came to serve up some delicious ice cream which absolutely everybody got to enjoy even our amazing staff. Thank you, Rossi's!
We have also had the very talented Denise come to perform for us, we all enjoyed singing and dancing along. What a wonderful day it was! Thank you so much Denise!

What an amazing weekend we have had here at Water Royd!

Firstly, we would like to say a huge thankyou to everybody who came down to support us at the Summer Fair! The turnout was absolutely amazing this year and we can't thank everyone enough!

Thank you to all of our wonderful stall holders and to the ever so talented Elvis and Everly Brothers for making our day here so special.

We are so honoured to have received so many wonderful donations on the lead up and on the day of the summer fair and would like to announce that we were able to raise a staggering £689.07 for our resident fund!

Thank you all so much again and we hope you had as much fun as we did!

This week we have been virtually travelling the world again.

We pulled out our "world explorer passports" and jetted off to sunny España.✈️

We listened to some classic Spanish songs, spoke about all of our travels and experiences visiting Spain and reminisced about our favourite holidays!

We even decorated for the occasion with some Spanish themed bunting and each got our passports stamped to show where we have been.

This week we have been busy prepping for our annual summer fair that is fast approaching! We've had all hands-on deck making sweet cones with a variety of different yummy treats in them.

We have also had the pleasure of the brilliant Amanda performing for us, we all really got in the spirit of summer wearing the lovely Hawaiian Leis that Amanda brought with her. Thank you so much Amanda for such a fantastic show!

We have been busy enjoying the lovely weather, we took a bus into town to do some shopping. Odele found a beautiful pink cardigan and Betty is now sporting a brand-new pair of sunglasses.

We also had the pleasure of the wonderful Dominic performing for us. Everybody had the best time watching Dominic sing and play his instruments and the atmosphere was amazing. We all had the most fun singing and dancing along.
