Getting your child vaccinated against flu helps to protect your child, you and your family. The Barnsley school flu programme runs from late September to mid December 2026 for school aged children. You will soon be sent a link to consent. Your child's school will inform you of the date that the immunisation team will be attending. You can also find the date at: https://www.southwestyorkshire.nhs.uk/services/schools-vaccination-team/ and select 'school flu vaccination dates'.

From today, children and pregnant women can get their flu vaccinations ahead of winter.

Children aged 2 and 3 can get vaccinated at their GP surgery, while most school-aged children will be offered the vaccine at school.

Pregnant women can speak to their maternity team, GP practice or community pharmacy about getting vaccinated.
