Part 3: Parent yourself like you parent your kids – Nutrition 🍎

You can spot a hungry kid a mile away.

School pick-up… they’ve been busy all day, barely touched their lunch, and suddenly they’re ratty, emotional, arguing over everything and on the verge of a meltdown.

What do we do?

We don’t tell them to just get on with it.

We know they need some decent food. Give them a good meal or snack, and half an hour later they’re a completely different person.

But as adults?

We burn the candle at both ends. Skip meals. Live on coffee. Grab fast food. Eat whatever’s quickest. Or don’t eat enough at all.

Our energy crashes. Blood sugar is all over the place. We become irritable, tired, foggy and stressed…

…then wonder why we feel rubbish by the end of the day.

The lesson?

Parent yourself the way you’d parent your kids.

Your brain needs fuel just as much as theirs does.

Parent Yourself Like You Parent Your Kids – Part 2: Move 🚶‍♂️

When kids are climbing the walls, ratty, arguing over everything and full of energy, we rarely think, “They just need more screen time.”

We know what’s often missing.

Fresh air. A trip to the park. Riding bikes. Running around. Burning off some energy.

We instinctively know that movement helps them regulate their mood.

Then we become adults…

We sit all day. Drive everywhere. Scroll all evening. Tell ourselves we’re too tired to exercise.

Then we wonder why we feel sluggish, stressed, irritable, and mentally drained.

Movement isn’t just about getting fitter. It’s one of the best things you can do for your mind.

Maybe it’s time to give yourself what you’d give your own child.

Go for the walk. Lift the weights. Ride the bike. Play.

Parent yourself a little better.

Parent Yourself Like You Parent Your Kids – Part 1: Sleep 😴

When our kids don’t sleep well, we spot it instantly.

They’re emotional, grumpy, struggle to concentrate, and everything seems harder. So what do we do? We get them back into a good routine because we know sleep matters.

Then we become adults…

Late nights scrolling. “Just one more episode.” A few drinks. Up early for work. Running on caffeine and hoping for the best.

Then we wonder why we’re exhausted, irritable, anxious, and feel like we’re running on empty.

Maybe it’s time to give ourselves the same care we’d give our own children.

You deserve the same kindness, structure, and routine.

Parent yourself a little better.

What’s one thing you could change tonight to help tomorrow’s version of you?
