"I honour the lotus feet of all the ancestral teachers,
Which awaken and manifest joy in oneself,
Beyond comparison, appearing as a snake charmer
For pacifying the poisonous delusions of Samsara"

(Astanga Yoga Mantra)

We are travelling through the chakra system, starting this week with Muladhara; the foundation of the central energy channel (sushumna nadi) where our journey toward energetic awakening begins. This practice is all about grounding and nurturing. We will explore postures, breathwork, sounds and meditations to develop your secure base.

Humata Yoga classes combine hatha and restorative styles to provide you with a perfect balance of energising flows and deep relaxation. Mats, bolsters, blankets, eyes pillows, blocks and straps are provided for comfort and support. Come just as you are!

Did you know that Humata offers private somatic coaching sessions as well as more yoga classes?

In somatic coaching, our attention is on both the thinking mind and what the rest of your body is telling you. Humans are neuro-psycho-biological beings, so the body is a reflection of the mind, and the mind is a reflection of the body.

Our bodies hold valuable information and insights, which can guide us to profound transformation in our lives. In a somatic coaching session, you are invited to tune in to what your body might be revealing through physical sensations reflecting unconscious thoughts and emotions.

As a coach I use recognised cognitive frameworks to encourage deeply considered questioning, reflection and problem solving.
As a yoga teacher I also offer you a personalised set of postures, mudras, mantras and pranayamas to help you live a more embodied life.

My approach is therapeutic and trauma informed so you will be safely held throughout this growth process.

Sessions can be online so wherever you are and whatever your enquiry, we will meet safely and confidentiality at a time to suit you.

If you would like to find out more about how somatic coaching can empower, transform and heal, please do get in touch to arrange your free 20 minute exploration before deciding to invest in yourself and your future.

Om Shanti, Sarah xx 🙏

A little update on Take Five 🤍

So, Take Five is officially open!

I've been a little quiet about announcing it publicly because despite everything I've put into getting here, I'm also really nervous 😅🥹.

Reopening my Nan’s café has meant so much more to me than just starting a business. It's something deeply personal, and after months of hard work, setbacks and a rollercoaster of emotions, it's finally a reality.

Aswell as Take Five, I’m also mum to Ronnie, who has autism and ADHD, so life is already pretty full-on! Taking on a business and running it entirely by myself has been a huge step outside my comfort zone. I'm finding my feet, learning as I go and still reminding myself that everything doesn't have to be perfect from day one.

I've realised that you can be incredibly proud of something and still feel nervous about it. Learning that confidence and self-belief don't always arrive at the same time.

To all the lovely people who've already popped in, the kind words and familiar faces have genuinely meant the world to me.

Please bare with me while I settle into this new chapter. It’s a little overwhelming, but I'm proud to have made it this far.

Hope to see you all soon……just preferably not all at once 😅😅😅

Here’s to new beginnings 🥂 ✨🤍

"The veil of Isis sevenfold
To us as gauze shall be,
Wherethrough, clear-eyed we do behold
The ancient mystery." *

Yoga improves our overall wellbeing, working with the body's energetic and nervous systems as much as the phyiscal body. This is a natural time of year to strengthen and prepare ourselves for whatever lies ahead.

After following the paths of Ida and Pingala, spiralling up and around the Sushumna, we are now ready to travel the rainbow bridge.

This week's practice will take us on a journey through the seven major chakras, exploring their related postures, breathwork, mantras and meditations. Working with these vital energies helps to restore our physical, psychological and spiritual balance.

Humata is a community and if you haven't visited yet, you are welcome to join us on this journey. No experience or equipment is needed, just visit the website to book your mat.

The darkening, cooling days encourage us to spend less time in the external world and to explore our inner landscapes more deeply. We are taking our yoga practice into the subtle body this week to learn more about our subtle, energetic selves.

Ida and Pingala are the two primary energy channels (nadis) representing the lunar/feminine and solar/masculine polarities. These two channels spiral around the central Sushumna Nadi, crossing at each chakra.

Ida Nadi flows up the left side of the spine and connects to the left nostril. Ida channels our cooling, calming, and intuitive energies which are managed by the parasympathetic nervous system.

Pingala Nadi runs up the right side of the spine and connects to the right nostril. Pingala channels our fiery, assertive, and logical energies which are controlled by the sympathetic nervous system.

Hatha yoga is a practice dedicated to balancing these two opposing and complementary forces within us, the Yin and Yang energies of life.

Join me on a journey within to restore your physical, mental and spiritual balance.

I had the joy of teaching my first mum & Baby yoga classes .canton yesterday.

As my baby now shaves, I had to make do with this little one!

The babies were definately in charge as we moved according to their energy levels.

"I bend without breaking"

The Celtic tree calendar is made up of 13 months of 28 days reflecting the lunar cycle, and September 30th is the beginning of Ivy (Ogham) month.

While other trees shed their leaves, Ivy keeps growing, using what is available for support.
While other plants darken and decay, Ivy remains green and vibrant.

Ivy represents resilience, determination and loyalty. She is a powerful life force overcoming barriers to keep growing up into the light.

We remain determined and resilient through our yoga practice, increasing our flexibility and strength to continue through the darker days.

Being part of a community helps too and new students, including beginners, are warmly welcome.

We don't break and fall; we bend and grow.
