Hot weather can affect anyone, but it can be especially dangerous for older adults, young children, pregnant women, and people with long-term health conditions.
π§ **Top tips to stay safe:**

Drink fluids regularly to stay hydrated.

Keep your home cool by closing curtains or blinds in rooms that face the sun.
β
Avoid direct sunlight between **11am and 3pm** where possible.
β
If you're outdoors, wear light, loose-fitting clothing, a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
β
Plan exercise or outdoor activities for the early morning or evening when it's cooler.
β
Check in on older relatives, neighbours, and anyone who may be more vulnerable.
π **Medicines and hot weather**
Continue taking your prescribed medicines unless a healthcare professional advises otherwise. Some medicines should be stored below **25Β°C** or in the fridgeβalways follow the storage instructions on the packaging. β οΈ **Know the signs of heat exhaustion:**
β’ Headache
β’ Dizziness or feeling faint
β’ Heavy sweating
β’ Muscle cramps
β’ Feeling sick
β’ Intense thirst
If symptoms don't improve after cooling down within 30 minutes, or if someone becomes confused, stops sweating despite being hot, or has a seizure, call **999** immediately.
