📢 Friends and Family Feedback

Thank you to everyone who completed our Friends and Family survey in August. Your feedback helps us recognise what is working well and identify where we need to improve.

We received many positive comments about:

💚 Our caring, friendly and professional staff
💚 Patients feeling listened to and reassured
💚 Efficient appointments and prompt treatment
💚 The helpful support provided by our reception and nursing teams

We also received feedback about appointment delays, short-notice changes and difficulties with online triage and booking.

To help manage demand safely, appointments are released daily. This prevents all available appointments being booked at once and allows us to retain capacity for patients whose needs arise later. Reception staff can assist patients who are unable to complete an online form independently.

We will continue to:

✅ Monitor appointment waiting times
✅ Keep patients informed about significant delays or changes
✅ Review how we communicate with anxious patients, children and those needing additional support
✅ Reinforce the importance of clear, friendly and respectful communication

Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences with us.

💉 Flu & COVID Vaccinations – Autumn 2026

It’s nearly that time of year again! 🍂

Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll start sending vaccination invitations to eligible patients.

💚 Flu vaccination
Eligible groups include:
• Everyone aged 65+
• Adults with certain long-term health conditions
• Pregnant women
• Children aged 2 or 3 on 31 August 2026

💙 COVID vaccination
Eligibility is more restricted this year. At Widcombe Surgery we will be vaccinating eligible patients aged 19+, including:
• Adults aged 75+
• Adults who meet the specific NHS criteria for immunosuppression, including some people receiving chemotherapy or certain immunosuppressive treatments, transplant patients and people with certain conditions affecting their immune system.

⚠️ Not everyone with a long-term condition or who considers themselves immunosuppressed will be eligible for a COVID vaccination. We will contact patients who meet the NHS criteria.

📱 How to book
If you’re eligible, we’ll send you an invitation containing a link to book your appointment online. If you’d rather speak to us, you can call the surgery to book once you've received your invitation.

👉 Please wait until you receive your invitation before trying to book or contacting the surgery.

Keep an eye on your phone over the next couple of weeks! 📲
