I’m a COSRT accredited s*x and relationship therapist and founder of The Therapy Yard where we specialise in psychos*xual (s*x) and relationship therapy 💋
What is it?
I and my colleagues provide talking therapy to help people work through a wide range of themes around relationships, s*x, s*xuality, intimacy, confidence and self esteem. We see individuals, couples and partners and a priority is providing a safe and welcoming space for all. We understand that reaching out for therapy can be daunting and many people take time to build up the courage to reach out but rest assured that this is the area in which we are passionate, have spent many years studying and supporting people in.
Who goes to s*x and relationship therapy?
Anyone and everyone! You, me, any of us! It is no different to general psychotherapy in that sense. The difference is we are trained in depth on relationship and s*xual themes and specialise in this.
What happens in the initial and subsequent sessions?
We complete an assessment to understand more about background and reasons for coming to therapy, identify hopes/goals. We use a variety of therapeutic theories, approaches and tools to help explore, understand and overcome issues or difficulties. Many come to understand more about themselves and what they want or to explore options or enhance their lives or relationships.
How many sessions will I need?
This does vary from person to person but I generally find that weekly therapy is most effective when starting and then moving to fortnightly sessions. If you are looking for short term therapy eg. 6-8 sessions then you can let your therapist know so that they can adapt the therapy to maximise resources in and out of the sessions. Some people prefer open ended therapy, mid term or longer term therapy - everyone and their circumstances differ.
