Nearly double the risk of an ADHD diagnosis. That’s what one of the largest endometriosis studies ever done found, even when comparing women with endo to their own sisters without it. Association, not proof, but two conditions that keep showing up together deserve real attention.

If you want to actually understand what’s happening in your own body instead of just reading about someone else’s? Come talk it through with me in clinic. Link in bio to book your online session.

Does having ADHD automatically mean you’re progesterone intolerant? Not necessarily.

If you’ve experienced low mood, agitation, brain fog, sedation or worsening ADHD symptoms after starting progesterone, it can be easy to assume that progesterone simply doesn’t agree with you. But your reaction is more likely to be influenced by several other factors.

In my latest episode on YouTube, I explore why these symptoms don’t always mean you’re progesterone intolerant, and what else may need to be considered.

What actually is Skool?

I get asked this a lot! It’s not another social media app, it is actually a lovely space to hang out! No ads, no algorithm deciding what you get to see, no comment warfare!! Just a great space for this community and this community only.

Inside, there’s a newsfeed where I post useful, educational content you can trust every week....a classroom with actual courses and resources you can keep coming back to instead of trying to find that one post from three months ago(!) and a space to actually talk to other women who really get exactly what you’re going through.

This is the bit I actually love most about it. It’s the first place where I’ve watched women go from “is it just me?” to “oh my god, it’s not just me,” in real time, in the comments, with each other. No toxicity, no judgement, just women who finally feel understood showing up for each other properly.

If you’ve been sat on the fence because you weren’t sure what it even was, this is me telling you, you’re going to wish you’d joined sooner.

Yes, I say fascinating A LOT on this reel 😅 but it really is!

There’s a new study on cold water exposure that looked at cold stress, perhaps a cold shower, a cold dunk, and found it directly affects the granulosa cells in your ovaries. These are the cells responsible for producing hormones and in this case, the cold actually increased progesterone secretion.

What is super interesting for me, is the bigger pattern underneath it. An environmental stressor signals your nervous system, your nervous system talks to your circadian rhythm and your circadian rhythm reaches all the way down to your ovarian hormone production. Our hormones are so much more responsive to what we do with our bodies than most of us were ever taught.

So whilst this doesn’t definitely prove cold water increases progesterone production, it’s one more thread showing how connected all of this really is.

A 2025 study compared perimenopausal symptoms in ADHD women against non-ADHD women. ADHD women scored higher on total symptom severity, full stop, and the gap was starkest between ages 35 and 39, exactly the age so many of us are told we’re “too young” for this to be perimenopause.

ADHD women aren’t just experiencing more symptoms. We’re experiencing them earlier, and more severely.

Your symptoms are not in your head. They’re very, very real. 💛

When I was finally diagnosed with ADHD, I burst out crying, and I’m not really a crier. There’s nothing wrong with me.

That was the thought, and it was the most validating experience of my life.

Perimenopause and puberty share the same hormonal terrain. So the traits you’ve spent years masking, the hyperactivity that turned inward into hyper thoughts, the overwhelm hidden behind lists and systems, can surface now as the lid comes off. If everything that used to keep you organised has stopped working, that’s worth understanding rather than pushing through.

I recorded a session about it for the 2026 Perimenopause Summit, an online event running September 21 to 24.

The four days also cover sleep, mood, hormones and strength. Your free ticket covers every session, each one open to watch for 24 hours after it airs.

I share this to remind you that as an ADHD woman, supporting your nervous system might not look like attempting to quieten your mind in silent meditation!!

What you might need is a change of scenery or routine.

You might need to immerse yourself in pleasure or activate your senses through admiring beauty.

You might need the simplicity of nature.

You might need to have a really fu***ng good laugh with your friends.

Or you might need something else entirely.

As ADHD women, we have often absorbed very NT “shoulds” around what we need & somewhere along the line we learn to abandon our own needs.

Perimeno is a time to reclaim these needs & embody what works for YOU, not someone else’s narrative.

I’m so excited to be back in clinic next week & launching my Skool membership in October!!

I hope your summer was just as restorative, however you chose to spend it.
