πŸ“’ IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM LONDON ROAD SURGERY πŸ₯

From Monday 27th July 2026, we will be running a two-week trial to explore a new way of managing how patients access care at the practice.

During the trial, patients contacting us through our online system will be asked to identify whether their request is urgent, routine, a minor illness or a follow-up. This will help us ensure that patients are directed to the right service, at the right time.

The aim of the trial is to:

βœ… Improve response times for urgent concerns
βœ… Reduce delays and waiting times
βœ… Ensure patients receive the most appropriate care
βœ… Make the best use of our clinical appointments and services

Patient safety remains our priority, and urgent concerns will continue to be identified and escalated appropriately.

Thank you for your patience and support while we continue to look at ways to improve access to care for all our patients. πŸ’™

πŸ“’ UPDATE ALERT

πŸ—“οΈ From Monday 13th July, we will be trialling a new Reception layout to help improve patient flow and reduce waiting times.

There will now be two separate queues:

🩺 Appointment Check-in & System Connect Submissions
βœ… For patients checking in for an appointment or requesting a System Connect submission.

❓ Queries Desk
πŸ’¬ For all other enquiries, including prescriptions, forms, and general reception queries.

πŸšΆβ€βž‘οΈ This new layout is designed to improve patient flow and help us provide the best possible service to all our patients.

πŸͺ‘ Our previous Reception area will be used as an 'Overflow Desk'. This will allow our team to provide additional support during busier periods, helping to reduce waiting times and ensure patients are assisted as quickly as possible.

πŸ’™ We welcome your feedback! Your comments will help us review the trial and continue improving the service we provide.

πŸ™ Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support.

London Road Surgery are absolutely delighted to share that our work has been shortlisted in two categories at the HSJ Patient Safety Awards:
πŸ… Primary Care Safety Initiative of the Year
πŸ… Improving Safety and Outcomes for Minority Ethnic Communities

This recognises our Heart Health Bedford project β€” work to improve blood pressure control for Black African and Black Caribbean patients aged 40–64, a group facing higher cardiovascular risk and too often unmet need. By rebuilding how we identify, contact and follow up patients, we took blood pressure control in this cohort from 27% to 77% at target, with the model now being used across our wider hypertension population.
The project was a genuine collaboration with our ICB and, crucially, with our residents, who helped co-design what actually worked.
It's a fantastic achievement and a real reflection of the collective effort, commitment and passion across the whole team.
