Patient Information - Flu Vaccinations & COVID Vaccinations

Bedlingtonshire Medical Group continue to book flu vaccinations & COVID vaccinations for eligible patients.

If you are eligible, have you booked your vaccination yet? If not, don't worry.

Please contact the surgery and our Patient Services Team will be happy to help find you a suitable appointment.

Alternatively, you can follow the self booking link that has been sent to book your own appointment.

Patient's who are eligible for the flu vaccine are encouraged to book their vaccine at Bedlingtonshire Medical Group.

Having your vaccine at the practice, will mean that your medical records are updated promptly. There can sometimes be a delay with communication when patients receive their vaccine through 3rd parties.

In the extremely unlikely event of any issue, patient's records will be on hand to treat promptly and effectively.

If you have any difficulties booking an appointment, please contact the surgery and our Patient Services Team will be happy to book an appointment for you.

Patients who are eligible for the COVID Vaccination will receive their vaccine at the same time as they receive the flu vaccination

Patient Information

Unfortunately, we have sickness within our nursing clinical team today, this means that we have reduced staffing levels at the surgery.

We unfortunatley need to cancel some appointments. We are working hard to rearrange these appointments.

This will also impact on our availability of urgent on the day appointments, we would like to reassure patients, that we are working hard to prioritise patients needs to ensure that they receive the best level of care.

We have started booking Flu Vaccination Appointments. Our initial clinics are Thursday 1st October 2026, Friday 2nd October 2026 & Wednesday 7th October 2026.

Self booking links will be sent to patients mobile telephones for those patients who are eligible. Where possible, please use this link to book an appointment.

Patient Information - Bank Holiday

The Practice is closed over the bank holiday weekend. The practice will reopen on Tuesday 1st September 2026.

If you have an urgent medical problem that can not wait for the practice to reopen, please contact NHS 111 or visit the Wansbeck Urgent Treatment Centre.

In an emergency, please attend NSECH Cramlington, or call 999.
Minor ailments such as sore throats, UTIs in women aged 18-64, and insect bites can be treated by your local pharmacy.

Flu vaccination planning is taking place. vaccines will start on 1st of October 2026, in line with NHS England advice.

In previous years, flu vaccinations have been offered from September. The change in timing follows clinical advice from the Governments Independent clinical advisors, the joint committee on vaccination and immunisation, that starting later would be better for patients, this is because the positive effect of the flu vaccine increasing people's protection from flu viruses reduces over time following the vaccination.
Getting the vaccination at a slightly later time will make it more likely that the persons immune response to virus is higher when flu levels are at their highest.

Please do not contact the surgery at this point.

We would encourage patients to have the flu vaccine if they are eligible.
