This year’s Summer Retreat 42 Acres was truly special. I love all our retreat places but had been on the look out for a new summer venue for a little while. On my wish list was somewhere not too far from home, surrounded by wild nature, ideally with a swimming lake and plenty of space to roam. 42 Acres in Frome, Somerset, delivered on all of this, and more. Regenerative estate, nature reserve and wellbeing centre, I don’t think we can wish for a more perfect place to retreat.

I’m thrilled to have managed to secure the same weekend for next year. Many of this year’s group have booked to come back but there is space for a few more open-hearted yogis to join us.

☀️SUMMER RETREAT☀️
25th – 27th June 2027
42 Acres, Somerset

Arrival on Friday from 4pm, departure on Sunday at 3pm

Award-winning 42 Acres in Frome had long been on my radar. Nestled within 170 acres of rewilded land and ancient forest, it’s one of the UK’s most beautiful and regenerative retreat centres. The consciously-restored 15th century Hermitage offers understated luxury and timeless simplicity – natural light, real fires, soft touches, and far reaching views down to the 7-acre lake. Our yoga, movement and meditation sessions are held in the bright, and rustic Mandala Barn. Our practices are embodied, intelligent and meaningful, and include Somatic Movements, Vinyasa-style flowing sequences, Restorative Yoga, Qigong-inspired sequences, self-massage, tapping, journaling, and deep relaxation. All meals are prepared fresh on site as part of 42 Acres’ “Soil to Gut” philosophy. Ingredients are organic, seasonal and hyper local – either wild-foraged or grown right here on the farm.

📣 3 rooms left! Please get in touch for your choice of Cosy, Sumptuous orTwin.

I’ve missed you!

I was very lucky this year with a long and particularly adventurous summer holiday. It was everything I hoped for and I loved every minute of it, but it’s good to be home again too. As much as I adored the freedom to travel and explore beautiful places, I’ve missed my personal routines and practices, something that often slips when I’m away. I’ve really missed seeing you, sharing my yoga and the energy of our classes too.

I look forward to starting again from Tuesday 1st September (Monday is a bank holiday but if this is your usual yoga eve please feel free to come on Tuesday next week instead!). If you are new(ish) to yoga, this is a great time to join us. Classes are strictly non-competitive and non-performative, absolutely everything is optional, and beginners are always welcome. Our practices focus on breath, body and self-awareness, flowing from gentle, explorative Somatic Movements to Vinyasa style sequences, always ending with a deep relaxation (with optional massage-like touches during Savasana).

Please come as your are (just make sure you book!). Feel free to get in touch beforehand with any questions or concerns.

Indonesia 2026 ❤️🇮🇩❤️

It was the late 80s, and I was 18 when my dad first took me to his birth country. At that time, we explored Java, Bali and Kalimantan. A world away from my normal little life—an awesome experience! Over the years, many more trips to this beautiful archipelago followed. Our kids had visited a couple of times when they were tiny but this was our first proper adventure together. Sumatra, including the Banyak Islands, and also Nusa Penida were new to me, as were seeing orangutans in the wild and swimming with giant manta rays. Total magic.

It was my dream to travel as 3 generations, so with our children and my dad, who is now 86. Very sadly, due to various reasons we only got little but very precious time with him there.

We rode on the backs of motorbikes and travelled by local wooden boats, buses, and tuk-tuks, as well as Indonesia’s version of ‘Uber’ (a lot has changed since the 80s!). We trekked rainforests, swam in rivers, lakes and over coral reefs. We climbed a volcano at sunrise and snorkelled with beautiful (star) fish and turtles. We admired many great waterfalls and clambered up and down rockfaces to reach the best views or beaches. Watching our daughter canter through the rice fields was epic, as was that crazy zip wire. The unexpected things and spontaneous invitations were, of course, always the most special—squeezing through a tiny gap to find ourselves in a huge temple cave, following sacred sounds down a dark alleyway and ending up in another temple to enjoy a private gamelan concert, plus my dad’s cousin’s 80th birthday party with many (distant) relatives, music, dancing and LOTS of food (and somehow finding us the last people to leave).

I feel insanely lucky to have had a whole month with these beautiful beings in this beautiful country. I’m still absorbing all our experiences and know I’ll remember them forever. Thank you kind-hearted people of Indonesia for having us, thank you dad for wanting to be there with us, and thank you my super teenagers, you absolutely rock!

Taking a moment to look back at a busy, but truly amazing June. Feeling grateful for special times with wonderful people, many beautiful events and meaningful retreats, but also for lazy barefoot days, outdoor yoga practices, stunning wildflowers and endless summer fruit. 🍉☀️🍓

Some of my absolute highlights were wild and wonderful festival W A S I N G (with special thanks to Award-winning Independent Bookshop Hungerford, West Berkshire and didugdale ), outdoor Bespoke Yoga sessions and another stunning Summer Solstice , and our almost beyond words special weekend retreat 42 Acres . Masses of thanks and gratitude to all involved in whatever way! 🙏🥰🙏

Bring on July! 🙌

What a weekend! I had visited 42 Acres on a couple of occasions, and totally fell in love with the place, the people, and their passion for the land, which is infused in absolutely everything they do (not least their totally delicious ‘soil-to-gut’ menu!). Of course I hoped our very first retreat here would be really special but actually being here truly exceeded all my expectations. And our group of 14 committed, caring and open-hearted yogis made it complete.

42 Acres’ values aligned beautifully with our themes around authenticity, and our enquiring and explorative yoga and self-care practices. I loved sharing soft, slow, and low to the ground somatic sequences, Qigong inspired movements, restorative stillness, ‘Touch as Medicine’ (self) massage, as well as sound, words of wisdom and poetry.

It’s difficult to narrow down other highlights of the weekend but these must definitely include the food (featuring ingredients foraged from the land or grown in their permaculture produce garden), swims in the lake (especially by moonlight), roaming the land surrounded by butterflies, spotting tiny froglets, hares, and a hedgehog, and hearing beavers’ tapping. Also sharing intentions and meaningful conversations by the fire. And most of all, the beautiful souls who came together and absolutely made our retreat what it was. Magical!

I’ll be in touch with 42 Acres to book our next retreat here. If you would like your name on our ‘First dibs for Retreats List’ please get in touch.

Soft, slow, and low to the ground...

It’s time to slow down a little. Now we’re past the summer solstice, and the peak of frenzied growth and activity, we must create time and space to care for ourselves. With a heatwave forecast this week, all our classes will be soft, slow, and low to the ground. Please give yourself permission to rest, replenish and restore.

Happy Summer Solstice dear friends! ☀️

I have had a great but busy last few weeks, and know that the rest of this month will be very full too. Today I craved for nothing more than some quiet moments in our wild woodland garden, to honour the ‘pause in between’ - just to be, breathe and feel. In whatever way I hope you’ll gift yourself a moment too!

I loved sharing this Blessing for the Solstice out on the deck Hungerford Park on Friday (and got sent a few more beautiful pics of our special gathering, thank you for sharing Katie Paull !):

May this be your moment to shine
May you stand tall in who you are
May you honour all the ways you have grown, and all the ways you are still becoming
May you see your path with clarity and courage
May you burn away the old stories that keep you small
May you welcome the parts of yourself you’ve hidden
May you expand into the fullness of your own light
May you rise to your power, with softness and fire

What a beauty of a Solstice evening! ☀️🙏☀️

Underneath a bright blue sky, surrounded by ancient trees and with a spectacular view, yoga up on the deck with background birdsong, a welcome cool breeze and sweet floral scents wafting from the gardens below felt totally dream-like.

Sharing it with like-minded souls made it special beyond words.

I loved our silent walk, spotting hares and greeting the horses, and time in the walled garden to enjoy cool drinks, summer treats, journaling and lovely chats too.

Thank you for being your beautiful selves and sharing your summer energy, celebrating the solstice with you meant a lot to me!🙏☀️🙏

Thank you also to the awesome team Hungerford Park 🙏☀️🙏 We will be back for more soon!

Feeling insanely lucky - the forecast for this Friday is looking glorious and sunny! ☀️Our Summer Solstice celebration was sold out but I have just created 4 more spaces in the hope that everyone keen to join us can have a place. Last year’s yoga on the deck (including bird song and sweeping views of the park!), meditative walk through the beautiful grounds and gathering in the walled garden were absolutely magical. I can’t wait to be back! ☀️
