WHAT A WEEKEND! 🐉💜

Friday 18th & Saturday 19th September were filled with teamwork, laughter, a little bit of chaos and plenty of rowing!

We were absolutely thrilled to welcome over 37 boats to the River Lagan, bringing people together to raise vital funds for Northern Ireland Hospice & Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.

A massive thank you to every team who took part and brought such incredible energy to the weekend. And to our wonderful staff and volunteers, thank you for helping with everything from registration and teas and coffees to setting up and clearing away. Your support made such a difference!

There’s still time to take that important step and get your Will in place.

In the absence of a palliative care strategy here, the four local independent Hospice charities have come together as Hospice Alliance Northern Ireland (HANI) to create one.

Earlier this week HANI launched its vision report for the future of hospice care, with the aim of ensuring that every person and family has the same opportunity to receive high-quality, compassionate care. 🤗

Entitled ‘With The End In Mind: Delivering equitable, quality and sustainable hospice care for Northern Ireland’, the report argues that hospice care must be recognised as an essential part of our Health and Social Care system, rather than viewed primarily as a charitable service. 🧑‍⚕️👩‍⚕️

Many thanks to Philip McGuigan MLA for sponsoring an event in Stormont’s Long Gallery to launch the report. Minister for Health Robbie Butler MLA also addressed those attending, including healthcare professionals, policymakers, and stakeholders from the palliative care sector. 👏

They were joined by staff from the four hospice charities that make up HANI – Evora Hospice, Foyle Hospice, Marie Curie - Northern Ireland and (including Northern Ireland Children's Hospice). 💜

👉 Watch Trevor McCartney, Chair of HANI and CEO of NI Hospice, describe the coalition’s shared vision for change so that every person has access to the right palliative care, at the right time and in the right place.
