When Maxine and Simon McFarland discovered they were expecting their second child, it felt like a miracle. After their daughter Rae, becoming pregnant again at 44 felt wonderful, but at their 20-week scan, everything changed.

Tests confirmed baby Daniel had Edwards’ Syndrome, a severe genetic condition with a shortened life expectancy. “It was the same day Russia invaded Ukraine, and it felt like a bomb had gone off in our lives too.”

Read Daniel’s story to find out how Hospice supported the McFarlands - and hear how your support can help NI Hospice continue providing specialist palliative care and support to local children and families. 💜

Paul spent his time at home surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren.

After his diagnosis, those ordinary family moments became something deeply meaningful - time together, conversations shared, and memories made in the place he felt most comfortable.

With support from Northern Ireland Hospice community nurses, Paul was able to remain at home while receiving specialist palliative care, with ongoing support for both him and his family.

It meant more time together, in the place that mattered most.

Your support can help us continue to be there for our patients and families, like Paul's.

Coleraine - we need your help!

On Friday 19th June, we're looking for volunteers to give just 2–3 hours of their time to support a bucket collection for Northern Ireland Children's Hospice.

As we celebrate 25 years of caring for local babies, children and families, we're asking our community to help us raise vital funds. As the only Children's Hospice in Northern Ireland, we rely heavily on public support to continue providing our specialist care.

Could you spare a few hours and make a difference? 💜

Many thanks to our friends from LOC-Down Events Superheroes & Princess Hire for their recent visit to our Adults Hospice Inpatient Unit! 👏

As our pictures show, Princesses Rapunzel and Ariel brought so much joy to our patients, their families – including a delighted young Isla and Cora – and also to our staff. 👸

Moments to remember like this are only possible thanks to your support, and because of the generosity of local businesses such as . 💜

Northern Ireland, we need your support!

Right now, demand for our Children’s Hospice services is growing faster than funding. We currently can only open 6 of our 10 hospice beds, meaning some local children and families are missing out on the vital care they need.

This Purple Month, we're on a mission to raise £150,000 to help fund Children's Hospice services for babies, children and families across Northern Ireland. You can help by:

💜 Host a Purple Coffee Morning
💜 Fundraise your way at school, work or in your community

🏃 Join the Purple Dash 5K on 27 June at Titanic Slipways, Belfast, an accessible colour run for all ages and abilities

Every pound raised helps bring us closer to funding the care local families rely on.
