“My back is sore”.
A simple sentence with differed meaning. Pain coming from tired muscles, from a stiff joint or a “trapped” nerve?

Here’s a simplified guide from a physio:

Muscle pain
- Dull, deep ache, often feels worse when activating that muscle and will respond to rest, heat and gentle stretching.

Joint pain
- Deep internal ache than can feel quite stiff.
Typical to feel worse in the morning and improve as you move around.

Nerve pain
- This will be a more distinct, sharp, shooting, burning, electrical sensation. can be associated with tingling, numbness and pins and needles. The pan often radiates and can come on even when not moving.

The most important thing is that if you are not sure what is causing your pain seek medical and professional help to get it sorted.
