Before anyone asks… my partner did NOT give me a black eye. 🤣🥊
Although the timing couldn’t have been better…
I had Karisma on Wednesday, woke up with this beauty developing under my eye, and then our health visitor arrived on Thursday morning. 😭🤣
Let’s just say my partner may have been getting a few suspicious looks. 👀
Meanwhile I’m sitting there thinking:
“I promise… it was a needle.” 💉😂
Jokes aside, so many of you have asked what happened that I thought this was actually a perfect little educational post.
I’ve had countless injectable treatments over the years and I genuinely NEVER bruise. Until now.
💉 Any time we put a needle through the skin, there is a possibility of bruising.
We use our knowledge of facial anatomy to avoid important vessels, but the face has an enormous network of tiny blood vessels and capillaries. It is simply impossible to guarantee that a needle will never catch one.
And around the eye, even a relatively small amount of bleeding underneath the skin can travel and create a rather spectacular-looking bruise.
It can look purple, blue, green and eventually yellow as it heals, and sometimes takes 1–3 weeks to disappear completely.
In most cases, bruising after an injectable treatment is simply a temporary cosmetic nuisance. Once the injection sites have settled, makeup can usually hide the evidence while your body does its thing.
Of course, bruising is different from a complication. Significant or increasing pain, unusual swelling, blanching or concerning skin colour changes, visual disturbances, or anything that doesn’t feel right should always be reported to your practitioner immediately.
So there you go.
No domestic drama.
No bar fight.
Just Karisma. 💉🤣
And one slightly suspicious health visitor. 👀😂
