LOOK are a charity based in Hereford, who work nationally. They are offering a free webinar for parents and carers of visually impaired children and young people to explore AI.

As Artificial Intelligence becomes a bigger part of everyday life, join LOOK as they explore how AI can become a powerful tool for your child’s future.
How can you keep your child safe online? What are the risks? And how can AI become a tool that supports, rather than overwhelms, your child?

Join LOOK for an insightful online panel discussion created specifically for parents and carers of visually impaired children and young people. Together, we’ll cut through the noise and tech anxiety to explore how AI can positively support your child’s confidence, independence and future.

Our expert panel will bring together perspectives from education, accessibility and digital literacy to provide practical guidance you can take away and use at home.

We were delighted to attend the Family Fun Day hosted by Ceara School at South Lakes Leisure Centre.

While the children enjoyed a day full of fun activities, parents had the opportunity to take part in a range of informative and supportive workshops, including a session from Angel Eyes NI. We were pleased to meet with families, share information about our services, and discuss the support available to children and young people with vision impairment and their families.

A big thank you to Ceara School for the invitation and for organising such a fantastic event.

School VR Training at St Colmcille's Primary School, Ballymena

Our Eye Clinician, Molly, and Education Advocate, Sarah, recently delivered a VR training session for staff at St Colmcille's Primary School.

It was fantastic to see so many staff members taking part and engaging with the training. Through virtual reality, participants gained valuable insight into how pupils with vision impairment may experience the world around them, helping to build understanding and confidence in providing effective support within the classroom.

A huge thank you to St Colmcille's Primary School for welcoming us and for their commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment for all pupils.

If you would like to find out more about VR training for your child's school, we'd love to hear from you. [email protected]

A massive thank you to Eglinton Classic Car Club for their fantastic donation of £3,500!

This incredible amount was raised at their annual Static Car Show held on 12th April, and we are really grateful for their generosity and support.

A huge thank you also goes to the 111 vehicle owners who attended, as well as all the helpers, volunteers, and spectators who helped make the event such a success. Your support and enthusiasm have made a real difference.

If you have used the Angel Eyes NI Education Service, we would greatly value your feedback through our Education Survey.

The survey has been sent to families via email and text message. If you have not received it but would like to share your experiences and have your voice heard, please contact our Education Advocate, Sarah Mathison, at [email protected].

Angel Eyes attended CiNI launch of the report Left out: Disabled Children's Rights and Experiences in Northern Ireland.

The finding expose worrying inequalities that disable children and their families face daily and call for a more coordinated, cross government approach to improve outcomes.

The research reflects a survey of parents and carers with lived experience and their voice and examples strengthens the report.

Last week, we were proud to take part in the SEE Project: Rethinking Support, Language and Dependency in Vision Impairment at Queen's University Belfast.

The event brought together professionals, charities, and members of the visually impaired community to have meaningful conversations about what truly matters—exploring where current systems support people well, where they fall short, and how they can better reflect people's real needs and experiences.

Together, we discussed the balance between independence and support, and we're looking forward to reading the framework that will emerge from the project, highlighting where systems are working effectively, where they conflict, and where gaps remain.

We were also delighted to be joined by Jake, one of the young people completing work experience with Angel Eyes last week. Reflecting on the day, Jake shared:

"I felt a strong sense of confidence and positivity from this shared experience and understanding the knowledge of both professionals and those with vision impairment."

Thank you to everyone involved for creating such an open, collaborative, and thought-provoking event.

The picture shows Jake in discussion at a table with five others.
