I know what it’s like to need help and leave without the answers. And I’m tired of hearing other women tell me the same.

Yesterday at Stormont, it felt like we were getting somewhere!🫶

A really positive meeting with Nuala McAllister MLA , alongside Angela from Birdsong , brought Alliance’s support for ALL WOMEN NI – Bring Her Back, the campaign Keira and I are leading together.

Our rearranged meeting fell during Keira’s holiday, but this is very much our shared work 🩷

Nuala called for “targeted and meaningful support, treatment and awareness for women experiencing the symptoms of perimenopause and menopause.”

We also have Sinn Féin’s support, with Linda Dillon MLA saying: “Women have been failed for far too long by our Health system and these proposals could go some way to improving the quality of life for every single woman.”

Women make up 51% of the population. Yet the care we receive can still depend on which GP door we walk through.

The consequences can last decades. Physical health. Mental health. Relationships. Careers. Years women don’t get back.

Our six-point plan calls for proper, consistent training, specialist menopause nursing in every GP practice, and education before women reach crisis point.

I’m pleased we’re being heard. I’ll be happier when women can actually get the care they need.

Where’s Tanya? Where’s Tanya Khan? Where did she go?

That hit hard.

Ciara has known me since our 20s. She’s been there through relationships, marriage, motherhood, break-ups and all the messy bits in between, and she has ALWAYS been brutally honest with me. Sometimes more than I’d like 😂

But that’s a real friend 💯

At that point, I’d spent so long raising my kids, keeping everyone else happy and questioning my own feelings that I hadn’t realised how much of myself I’d lost

I wasn’t living. I was simply existing

Ciara saw it before I did. And because I trusted her enough to know she wasn’t just telling me what I wanted to hear, I heard her - LOUD & CLEAR

I chose to go to counselling, found my clarity and eventually did what had once felt impossible for once in my life, even as a child

I chose myself 🥹

And I’m proud of that🔥

Because I want my children to know that choosing your own happiness and mental wellbeing isn’t selfish. Sometimes it’s the strongest example you can give them.

I found Tanya Khan again

And I’ll never lose her again
