💙 What Happens During Counselling?
Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting, especially if you're not sure what to expect.
Your first session is simply an opportunity to talk. It's a chance to get to know your counsellor, discuss what has brought you to counselling, and explore how we can best support you.
Counselling provides a confidential, safe and non-judgemental space where you can speak openly at your own pace. There is no pressure to share everything straight away - your sessions are centred around you and your individual needs.
Whether you're experiencing addiction, gambling-related harm, emotional difficulties or simply need someone to talk to, our counsellors are here to support you every step of the way.
If you're thinking about reaching out, remember, you don't have to face things alone.

🎮 Healthy Gaming During the Summer Holidays
☀️ Summer holidays are a great time to relax, spend time with friends, and enjoy your favourite hobbies including gaming.
Gaming can have many positives, from developing problem-solving skills to helping people stay connected. Like any hobby, it's all about finding a healthy balance.
Taking regular breaks, getting outdoors, staying active, enjoying time with family and friends, and making time for other activities can all help create a positive routine over the summer.
If you notice that gaming is beginning to affect sleep, relationships, school preparation, or daily routines, remember that support is available.
At Dunlewey, we're here to offer advice and support for individuals and families who may have concerns about gaming or gambling.

Help Kristian support recovery!
Fundraiser link in comments. My name is Kristian, and for most of my life, I’ve been in a battle with addiction. It started young with food, moved to alcohol and drugs, and eventually became a gambling addiction that put me in deep debt and placed a massive strain on my family.

At my lowest, I was over 23 stone, struggling with my mental health, and trapped in a cycle of self-sabotage.

The Turning Point
Everything changed when I found Dunlewey Addiction Services. They helped me realise my struggles were rooted in childhood trauma. Understanding that "why" was the breakthrough I needed.
July 21st, 2022, was the last time I placed a bet.

Finding the Brotherhood
Stopping gambling was just the start. I still struggled with my mental health until I found Modern Day Warrior (MDW). Surrounding myself with a brotherhood of men who all wanted to do better gave me the strength to reclaim my life. I worked hard to lose the weight, but I knew I needed a new goal to keep my mind right.

The Half Marathon Challenge
Running? It was never for me, infact I detest it. I just knew I needed to test myself so I started running—at a snail’s pace at first. To be honest, I hated it. But with the support of my community, I’ve found the courage to enter a Half Marathon.

I am doing this for:
Those struggling with addiction: To show that your past doesn't define your future.
My Brother Jared: Who has recently overcome massive addiction hurdles in his own life. I am incredibly proud of him.

The Community: To prove that "street kids" can beat the odds and rebuild their lives.

Please donate what you can. Every bit of support shows that recovery is possible and that we can come out the other side stronger. I need you to keep me accountable along the way, lets be having you!

All money raised will go toward people getting much needed help for addiction but its not just the addicts that can get help. Its family members who have struggled also ❤️

I will post weekly updates of my progress,

Thank you

School holidays can be a wonderful time for families, but they can also bring additional pressures.
Changes to routines, increased childcare responsibilities, financial pressures, and less time for yourself can all affect wellbeing, particularly for parents and carers who are managing addiction or recovery.
It's important to remember that you don't have to do everything perfectly. Looking after your own wellbeing is an important part of supporting your family.
Swipe through our carousel for some helpful reminders and practical ways to support yourself this summer.
If you or someone you know could benefit from support, Dunlewey is here to help.

Understanding Chasing Losses
When someone continues gambling in an attempt to win back money they have lost, this is often referred to as "chasing losses."
It can be easy to think that one more bet might recover previous losses, but chasing losses can sometimes lead to increased stress, financial difficulties, and gambling for longer than intended.
Recognising the signs early and understanding your limits can help you stay in control.
Have a look through the infographic to learn more.
If gambling is affecting you or someone you know, support is available.
