Acknowledgement – DORAN, Michele. The family of the late Michele Doran would like to express our thanks and appreciation for the support and sympathy shown following our recent sad bereavement. In particular we would like to thank the District and Marie Curie Nursing staff for the high quality care, guidance and support given to mum throughout her illness. We extend our thanks to Dr Mulholland, Dr Anderson and all of the nursing and admin staff involved in caring for mum in the MacMillan Unit. We wish to express our gratitude to Fr McManus, Fr Neeson and Fr McGrady for their services during the wake and funeral. We gratefully acknowledge Neil, Lindsay and Kathy at John Smiths Funeral Directors for their professional service. We extend our appreciation to those volunteers from Ballygalget GAC who helped to organise the guard of honour and refreshments after the funeral.
We would like to thank everyone who visited, and for all the mass and sympathy cards, messages and phone calls. There are too many to name individually but we have taken comfort in your kind words and prayers.
Mum’s Month’s Mind Mass will take place in St Patrick’s Ballygalget on Friday 19th June at 7:30pm.

Toner (Portaferry) Died 14th June 2026, peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Catherine, devoted wife of Tommy, dearly loved mother of Marian, John, Gerard, Ben, Thomas, Kieran, Andrew, Catherine, Jenny, Frances, Michael and Sinead and their partners Chris, Marie, Keeva, Cal and Darren and a cherished granny, sister, sister-in-law and aunt. Catherine’s remains will be reposing in her home 70 High Street, Portaferry from 6pm today, Monday 15th June. Funeral will leave the home on Wednesday 17th June at 9.30am to St. Patrick’s Church, Ballyphilip for Requiem Mass at 10am followed by burial in adjoining graveyard.

The family of the late Barry Bell would like to express their deepest thanks and appreciation to all of their family, friends, neighbours and wider circle who have sympathised with them during their recent sad bereavement. Thanks to all who sent cards, telephoned, called to the family home, to those who attended the wake and funeral, and helped in any way. Thank you for the donations made in lieu of flowers to Chest, Heart and Stroke and RNLI Lifeboats, Portaferry. Thank you to all of the staff of the Ulster Hospital for their care and kindness they showed towards Barry and to us as a family. Thank you to Dr Bell, Loughview Surgery. Thank you also to Father Sloan for conducting the Requeim Service and Funeral Minister for prayers at the Crematorium.

POLLY nee Bailie (Bangor) Died 9th June 2026, suddenly but peacefully at hospital. Elaine, beloved wife of Malachy, dearly loved sister of Audrey and the late Ernest, sister-in-law of James, a much loved aunt to Mary, Sharon and Samuel and great-aunt to James, Matthew and Hannah.
Funeral service will take place in West Church, Rathmore Road, Bangor on Friday 12th June at 12noon followed by burial in Ballyhalbert Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Eileen, beloved wife of the late Billy, dearly loved mother of Eileen, Dorothy, Mary and Jacqueline, dear mother-in-law of Gerard, Michael and Tim, much loved grandmother of Samuel, Jordan, Jessica, Sarah, Gerard and Adam and cherished great-grandmother of Diago, Devlin, Aoife and Kobi.
Eileen’s remains will be reposing in John Smith Funeral Home Monday 8th and Tuesday 9th June from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm each day. Funeral will leave the funeral home on Wednesday 10th June at 12.15pm to St. Patrick’s Church, Ballyphilip for Requiem Mass at 12.30pm followed by burial in adjoining graveyard.

Byers (Portaferry) Died 26th May 2026, peacefully at his home. Joseph, beloved husband of the late Mary, loving father of Isobel, Kathleen and Joseph and a dear father-in-law and grandfather.
Funeral will leave his home on Wednesday 27th May at 5.15pm to arrive in St. Patrick’s Church, Ballyphilip at 5.30pm and repose overnight. Requiem Mass at 10am on Thursday 28th May, followed by burial in adjoining graveyard.

Doran (Ballygalget). Died 21st May 2026, peacefully at her home. Michele, loving mother of Gavin, Lynsey and Jordan, cherished granny of Tiarnán, Darragh and Shea, dear mother-in-law of Nuala and Ryan, beloved daughter of the late Seamus and Barbara and a much loved sister, sister-in-law and aunt.
Michele’s remains will be reposing in her home 14 Tullymally Road, Portaferry. Close family and friends welcome on Friday 22nd May from 4pm-7pm. House private at all other times. Funeral will leave the home on Saturday 23rd May at 10am to St. Patrick’s Church, Ballygalget for Requiem Mass at 11am followed by burial in adjoining graveyard.
