So, when making plans for our own event a Tombola was the top of the list.

During our chats for Friendship Day one of the most common responses when asking what our residents like most about their friendships here at Holbrook Hall was that they always having someone to talk.

It’s lovely to see our residents sat together and ‘putting the world to rights’ (their words), having a good old gossip and sharing these meaningful and much needed moments.

Chatting with friends in later life is very good for your health, helping to lower stress, protect the brain, and support a longer life. Regular talks with friends reduce loneliness and lowers the risk of anxiety and sadness.

We’re clapping as we’re excited because Tania will be visiting us twice next week to deliver her wonderful fitness classes.

We love to have Tania in our home, so we can’t wait to squeeze in an extra session.

👫National Friendship Day 👬

Today we celebrated National Friendship Day by chatting with our residents about friendships.

We asked them two questions:
1. What makes a good friend?
2. What do you like about the friendships you have here at Holbrook Hall?

It was lovely to hear their responses and that everyone feels they have friendships within our home. Not only with their fellow residents but with the staff team too.

We are so lucky here at Holbrook Hall because not only do our carers do a wonderful job but they also go above and beyond to help bring so much joy into our home.

Thank you Vicky, for asking your lovely daughters to bring a few of their animals in this afternoon for our games and fun afternoon. We really appreciated it.

As you can see from the photos, everyone really enjoyed meeting them. Except Maureen, who wasn’t to eager to say hello, but was happy to see other enjoying them.

We’ve had an absolutely wonderful afternoon on our patio with family and friends visiting for an afternoon of games and fun.

Chris was an absolute trooper in the stocks, he created so much laughter amongst our little friends and our residents. Massive thank you Chris, you’re a legend. Maureen asked to have a go too, but as soon as the water pistols came out, she was out.

It was lovely to see the children enjoying games that bring our residents so much joy.

This afternoon we popped to Matlock Bath for lunch at Promenade Fishbar, Matlock Bath, the staff were wonderful and the food delicious.

After we’d all finished we had a little walk and got an ice cream for dessert. A very lovely treat.

It was lovely to see this local attraction full of families and bikers enjoying the glorious weather.

We went direct to Matlock Bath along the a6 pointing out various places on route and on the way back we came over Tansley and Crich, they views were breathtaking.

A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. Special thanks to Cheryl, Alan, Sue, Karen and Marion who all volunteered to support this outing. We couldn’t do it without you.
