A message from The Jepson Family

Like many people across the country, we have followed the recent news with a deep sense of sadness and disbelief. Our thoughts are with every family affected by these distressing events.

As an independent family funeral business serving communities across Derbyshire and Staffordshire, we understand that the trust placed in a funeral director is unlike any other. Families come to us during some of the most difficult moments of their lives, placing the care of someone they love into our hands. We never forget the responsibility that carries.

For generations, the Jepson family has built its reputation on the values of dignity, compassion, integrity and respect. Today, those same principles guide every member of our team across our ten independent funeral homes. Every person entrusted to our care is treated as we would wish our own loved ones to be treated—with kindness, professionalism and the utmost respect.

Maureen Cass
passed away peacefully at home, with her family by her side, on Sunday 19th July 2026, aged 83 years.
Beloved wife of the late George, much loved mum to Caroline and Christopher, mama to Sean, Siobhan, Tara, Louise, Chantelle, Thomas, James and the late Patrick,
great mama to Josh, Cory, Freddie, Amelia, Jessica, Connie, Kailem, Brandon, Charlotte, Lewis, Bella, Lincoln and the late Kai,
and great great mama to Lillie-Mae.
Maureen was immensely proud of her family, and she will be missed and remembered by all.
A service for Maureen will be held at St Peter's Church, Belper at 11:00 on Friday 21st August, followed by a committal service at Markeaton Crematorium (Main Chapel).
Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu will be collected at the service for the Belper District Community First Responders.

It’s been two months since we welcomed J. Barlow Funeral Directors into the Thomas Ryde & Son family.

Josh wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for their continued support and to reassure families that he’s still here, continuing to provide the same compassionate care the local community has always known.

Jane passed away suddenly, but peacefully, after a short illness, at the Nightingale Macmillan Unit at Royal Derby Hospital, on Saturday 4th July 2026, aged 63 years.
Beloved daughter of Janet and Lewis, adored wife of Jane and much-loved mum to Oli.
Jane will be dearly missed and always remembered by all her family and friends.
A service for Jane will be held at St Peter’s Church on Tuesday 28th July at 2:00pm.

What a fantastic day at Duffield Carnival!

It was great teaming up with Belper District CFR Group again at another local event.

There were plenty of smiles as people cooled off in the stocks and tried their luck on the drinks tombola!

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our stall, bought tickets, and supported such a great cause. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces.

🌿 Join Us This Saturday at Belper Goes Green! 🌿

The countdown is on! This Saturday, come and visit the Thomas Ryde & Son stand at Belper Goes Green for a day of family fun, traditional games, and community spirit.

We're delighted that our Charity of the Year, Belper District Community First Responders, have very kindly handmade a selection of traditional games for everyone to enjoy. There'll also be a tombola with fantastic prizes to be won!

The First Responders team will be joining us on the day with their emergency response vehicle, giving visitors the chance to meet the team and learn more about the incredible work they do in our community.

💚 Every penny raised will go directly to supporting this vital local service.
