Our GP on the Radio! π»
This morning, Dr Millie Saunders, one of our GPs and part of Belper PCN , joined BBC Radio Derby to talk about breast awareness and breast cancer.
Dr Saunders explained that itβs not about checking in one βperfectβ way or on a specific day, but about getting to know whatβs normal for you. That way, youβre more likely to spot any new or persistent changes in your breasts, chest wall, armpit or up towards the collarbone.
She used the simple TLC message:
π T β Touch: Get to know how your breasts or chest normally feel.
π L β Look: Notice how they usually look, including the skin and ni***es.
π C β Check: If you notice anything new or unusual β a lump, swelling, skin dimpling, redness, ni**le changes or discharge β contact your GP.
Dr Saunders also highlighted that breast cancer can affect men as well as women, and that any age can be affected, so itβs important for everyone to be breast aware.
We are incredibly lucky to have Dr Saunders working with us at Whitemoor and Belper PCN, bringing her experience with complex, longβterm problems and her passion for prevention and early diagnosis to our patients and community.
π§ You can listen back to the interview via BBC Radio Derby β just search for the programme and look for the breast awareness segment.
