Feet 👣 they come in all shapes and sizes, although most people don't like them, they are important, we need them to walk to help good mobility, so we should take care of their health even if we really don't like them
Many health conditions can and do have a direct impact on the foot - so why is this? Well..... if you have poor circulation or complex medical issues, then this can affect your extremities (feet) amongst other things and as such you are more likely to have much slower healing and increased risk of infections. So wounds and skin conditions might become a problem and can lead to other more serious issues if left untreated or mis-diagnosed
Having a foot health check at least annually if you are of more senior age is also a good idea, but everyone should take care of their feet, regardless of age
Of course, you don't need to have medical problems or even be diabetic to see a podiatrist, although I'm a foot specialist, really I mostly do lots of simple but thorough and safe routine foot treatments for lots of people, and I do this with the benefit of enhanced training and knowledge
However, if you are also diabetic this can increase the risk of developing problems, your 'risk' is based on a number of factors which I can assess and determine.
Some statistics:
It is estimated that around 5.8 million people in the UK are living with diabetes (www.diabetes.org) of this 4.6 million have been diagnosed with 1.3 million still undiagnosed. This is an all time high and growing year on year.
I have had some time working in the NHS podiatry service, so I have seen the difficulties and the NHS is stretched. Unfortunately I have been made aware of some recent reductions in their podiatry services leaving many people considered as being less at risk, but still needing care without an alternative. The NHS has a list of HCPC podiatrists/chiropodists who are fully trained which is recommended.
To search google "podiatrists near me" or go to the the NHS website * (see below) I am on this list.
At footpairfect podiatry I offer a private, affordable, reliable and comprehensive foot care service for all, not just for those with complex health issues who have complex feet too.
❗️So....If you have recently been discharged from the NHS podiatry service, I am based in South Street, Leven near Beverley. I'm easy to find and parking is free and nearby, plus you don't have to wait weeks to get an appointment.
