Good Morning,

Due to current technical problems within the hospital laboratories, they are unable to process routine blood tests.
At present, we are prioritising blood tests for urgent clinical needs only. If your test is not urgent, we will rearrange this for you as soon as services return to normal.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding and patience during this time. We would like to reassure our patients that we are continuing to provide care as normal.

Heat exhaustion can make you feel unwell and experience dizziness, headaches, tiredness, excessive sweating and feeling or being sick.

It's not usually a medical emergency, as long as you can cool down within 30 minutes.

If someone has heat exhaustion:

✅ Move them to a cool place
✅ Remove all unnecessary clothing like a jacket or socks
✅ Give them plenty of water – isotonic sports drinks or oral rehydration sachets can also help replace salt lost through sweating
✅ Cool their skin – spray or sponge them with cool water and fan them
✅ Stay with them until they're better

⚠️ Amber and red heat-health alerts are now in place affecting Surrey and Sussex this week.

These alerts mean that the high temperatures are expected to increase the risk of serious illness and put additional pressure on heath services.

Please take steps to look after yourself and others during the hot weather and if you do need help from the NHS, consider all available options. Remember - A&E and 999 are for serious and life-threatening emergencies.

If you take any regular medication, it's a good time to check you have enough to carry you through the next bank holiday, when GP surgeries will be closed.

Most GP surgeries require at least 3 working days, and your local pharmacy may not be able to dispense the medicine straight away depending on how busy they are and what they have in stock, so please plan accordingly.

The NHS App makes it quick and easy to request your medications any time.
