☀ Sorry to interrupt the summer holidays

If you’re enjoying a well-earned break, we’re sorry for mentioning school already!

But with just a few weeks until the new academic year begins, now is often when parents start thinking about September.

Perhaps an end of year report mentioned reading, spelling, handwriting, maths or organisation.

Perhaps your child worked incredibly hard this year but still found school exhausting.

Perhaps you’ve been left wondering

“Will this year be any different?”

The truth is that dyslexia and dyscalculia don’t disappear over the summer. Whilst the holidays provide a valuable chance to rest, recharge and enjoy family time, the underlying difficulties identified during the school year are still there when September arrives.

In fact, after six weeks away from classroom routines, many children can initially find reading, writing, spelling, maths facts and organisation feel a little harder until they settle back into school life.

The good news is that you don’t have to work it all out on your own.

At Dyslexia South East CIC, we’re here to help families understand what’s happening, explore the options available and decide what support is right for their child - with no pressure and no obligation.

Whether you’re wondering if an assessment is appropriate, looking for practical strategies, or simply want to talk things through with someone who understands, we’d love to help.

🍋 If life gives you melons
perhaps it’s time to give us a call.

Have you ever looked back and wondered

“Why did I always have to work twice as hard as everyone else?”

“Why do I lose track of paperwork, forget appointments or struggle to organise my thoughts?”

“Why can I explain things brilliantly, but freeze when I have to write them down?”

Or perhaps your child has recently been identified as dyslexic
and suddenly a lot of your own school experiences are starting to make sense.

For many adults, discovering they are dyslexic isn’t about finding a label.

It’s about finally finding an explanation.

A professional dyslexia assessment can provide clarity, helping you understand your own learning profile, your strengths, and the challenges you’ve quietly worked around for years.

For many people, it also opens the door to practical support at work, reasonable adjustments, greater self-understanding and a renewed confidence in their abilities.

At Dyslexia South East, we provide high-quality adult dyslexia assessments in a friendly, supportive and professional environment.

Whether you’re considering an assessment, exploring workplace support, or simply wondering if dyslexia could explain some of the challenges you’ve experienced, we’re happy to talk things through.

Our advice is always free.

We don’t charge for memberships, subscriptions or friendly chats.

Sometimes, understanding yourself is the first step towards making life that little bit easier.
