🩵 Protecting Children is Everyone's Responsibility 🩵
When we hear about tragic cases involving children, it is easy to assume that safeguarding is something that only professionals do.
The truth is that keeping children safe is everyone's responsibility.
Many safeguarding concerns come to light because a family member, neighbour, friend, volunteer, or member of the public noticed something wasn't right and chose to speak up.
You do not need proof to raise a concern.
You do not need to investigate.
You do not need to be certain.
If something feels wrong, trust your instincts and seek advice.
A phone call, a conversation, or sharing a concern could make all the difference to a child's life.
Children rely on adults to notice, listen, and act.
If you are worried about a child, contact your local safeguarding team, the police if there is immediate danger, or the NSPCC Child Protection Helpline on 0808 800 5000.
Every child deserves to feel safe.
Every child deserves to be protected.
Every child deserves adults who are willing to act.

Like many people, we have felt a mixture of profound sadness, heartbreak, and anger following the tragic death of baby Preston.
Anger at the unimaginable abuse he suffered. Anger that a child so vulnerable experienced such harm. Anger that opportunities to protect him failed him.
While investigations and reviews will establish the facts, it is understandable that many people are expressing their emotions and asking difficult questions about how this could happen why Preston wasn't kept safe.
For those of us working in helping professions, this case is a painful reminder that safeguarding is not simply a policy or procedure. It is about protecting real children whose lives depend on adults noticing concerns, sharing information, asking questions, and and taking action to protect those who are most vulnerable.
Today, we remember Preston. We hold in mind the tragedy of a young life lost, acknowledge the strength of feeling that so many are experiencing, and renew our commitment to safeguarding children and vulnerable people.
Every child deserves to be safe. Every child deserves to be heard. Every child deserves adults who will protect them.

RIP you are safe now and they can't hurt you anymore.

Recent cases involving offenders avoiding custodial sentences have raised difficult but important conversations around accountability, justice, rehabilitation, and community safety.
At Survivors Support, we understand the value of rehabilitation, education, and prevention work in reducing future harm. However, accountability is vitally important — particularly where serious harm, abuse, or s*xual violence has taken place.
The messages sent to victims, survivors, communities, and offenders matter. When accountability is not clearly seen or understood, it can risk minimising the seriousness of the harm caused and may impact public confidence in justice and safeguarding systems.
True rehabilitation should include responsibility, recognition of harm caused, accountability and interventions that prioritise the safety and wellbeing of others. Trauma-informed approaches should never remove accountability; they should work alongside it.
With the almost daily reporting of violence, abuse, and s*xual offences within society, it is vital that we continue to promote prevention, education, safeguarding, and appropriate consequences that reinforce the seriousness of these behaviours.

11 counts of r@pe of two girls and video evidence of both gang r@pes and yet it’s still not enough? If this doesn’t attract a prison sentence - there’s no hope for other cases. Enough of the misogyny. Enough of the double standards and re-traumatizing of girls and women. Judges must be held accountable.

Recent developments around Andrew and the widening of police enquiries are a reminder that no individual should ever be beyond accountability.
We continue to fully support the work of the police and all agencies involved in seeking truth, justice, and protection for those affected.

A fair and lawful society depends on accountability applying equally to everyone — regardless of status, wealth, power, or influence.

No position in society should place someone above the law. A country governed by the rule of law must ensure that all allegations are investigated thoroughly, fairly, and without fear or favour.

At the same time, we recognise that situations like this can have a wider impact on families and individuals connected to those involved, many of whom may also be experiencing distress under intense public scrutiny.

Our thoughts remain with survivors and all those impacted. We encourage anyone affected to seek support and report concerns where they feel able to do so.

Andrew, who has previously denied any wrongdoing, was arrested earlier this year on suspicion of misconduct in public office following the release of the Epstein files.
