💚🐴 Supporting your horse’s body through every stage of their work🐴💚

Equine sports massage is more than simply helping a horse relax. Used as part of a well-rounded management programme, massage can support the muscular system and help maintain your horse’s physical wellbeing.

💚 Regular massage may help to:
• Improve circulation to the muscles
• Reduce muscular tension and areas of tightness
• Support recovery following exercise
• Maintain suppleness and range of movement
• Promote relaxation and reduce stress
• Highlight changes in muscle tone or areas of sensitivity
• Support comfortable, efficient movement
For performance horses, helping the muscles recover and remain supple can be particularly valuable alongside appropriate training, veterinary care, farriery and physiotherapy where required.
Every horse responds differently, so each session is tailored to the individual horse, their workload, age and current condition. My approach is calm, considered and focused on the horse’s comfort throughout.

🍎 Comfort, relaxation, and correct muscle function are essential for every horse.

🐴 Subtle signs - stiffness, reduced suppleness, or changes in behaviour or way of going can often be linked to muscle tension.

🥕 For some horses, especially younger or more sensitive types, physical discomfort can also show up as tension or resistance.

🏅 Equine Sports Massage offers a calm, tailored approach to:
• Improve movement and comfort
• Relieve muscular tension
• Support overall wellbeing

🏆 Equine Sports Massage isn’t just for competition horses 🏆

🤓 Many people think sports massage is only for horses that compete, but that’s not the case.

From family ponies and happy hackers to competition horses, all horses can benefit from regular massage.

Daily activities, exercise, and even time spent in the field can cause muscle tension and stiffness. Massage helps to relax tight muscles, improve movement, increase comfort, and support overall wellbeing.

For competition horses, massage can aid performance and recovery. For leisure horses and ponies, it can help them stay comfortable, move more freely, and enjoy their work.

No matter their age, breed, or job, every horse works hard in its own way and deserves to feel their best.

🍾🥳 Such a great time at the Winter Dressage Championships! 🥳🍾

I was kept busy behind the scenes treating my clients’ horses — helping them stay relaxed, supple, and preparing their muscles so they were ready to perform at their best. It’s always so rewarding to be part of their journey and see them go on to do so well in the arena. 🏆

I enjoyed catching up with some familiar faces, and the standard of riding was incredible — some seriously smart combinations out there ✨

The Petplan Championship was also in full swing, and it was so lovely to see such a variety of horses all coming together to take part. What a brilliant atmosphere all round! 💫

🐎 Can I see your horse move first? 🐎

Before starting any massage, watching your horse move is so important. It shows things we can’t always see when they’re standing still. Here’s what we’re looking for:

🤔 Is one side working more than the other?

👣 Are their steps shorter than usual?

🩰 How freely are their joints moving?

🏋🏼‍♀️ Are they shifting weight or avoiding something?

🤸🏼‍♂️ How is their posture and balance?

By watching them move, we can see where there’s tension, what’s overworking, and what’s not being used enough. This helps us give a treatment that’s really suited to your horse.

Just a few minutes of movement can make a big difference 💛

🎉 A positive start for a successful year 🎉

Equine massage therapy supports the management, maintenance, and improvement of your horse’s musculoskeletal health. Taking a planned, proactive approach can help support comfort, movement and overall wellbeing — rather than waiting for an issue to arise.
Each session is individually tailored, with careful consideration given to:
🏋🏼‍♀️ Your horse’s current workload
🏅 Performance or training goals
🩻 Previous and relevant medical history (working alongside veterinary guidance where appropriate)
Massage programmes are designed to complement existing care and can be adapted as your horse’s needs change throughout the year.
Plan support — don’t wait for a problem.

🗓 Limited spaces available for January.

🩺🤩 How I can help as a massage therapist following veterinary treatments 🤩🩺

🩺Veterinary treatment addresses the underlying cause of an issue. However, once the primary problem has been resolved, the horse’s body still needs support to recover from the compensatory patterns developed during pain or discomfort.

🚑When a horse is sore, it adapts its movement to protect the affected area. Over time, these compensations can lead to muscular tension, imbalance, and secondary discomfort elsewhere in the body.

🪄 Equine massage plays a key role in releasing tension, restoring muscular balance, and encouraging correct movement patterns. This supports veterinary treatment and helps reduce the risk of ongoing or future issues.

In summary:
• Your vet treats the cause 🩺
• Your equine massage therapist (me 🤓) addresses the consequences 👏🏼
Together, we support long-term soundness and wellbeing. 🪄
