Did you know you don’t need a coffin?

How wonderful are these shrouds which can be hand decorated by family too.

Note :
Contrary to popular belief, it is not a legal requirement that a coffin or casket must be used simply that the body is not exposed in sight.

A body should therefore be covered in public, but the method of doing so is entirely up to the individual families. And most crematoria accept properly constructed shrouds too - strong base board and secure carrying handles.

So good to see the awareness of soul midwives and death doulas being raised. It is a privilege for me to offer this service and to ensure that people are supported in their final journey.

Contact me for a chat to understand more about what a soul midwife can do for you. Or if you feel I can help support you or your family as death approaches.

We’re proud to have members of End of Life Doula UK Rita Ball and Sarah Parker with our Chief Executive Dr Emma Clare featured in this important national BBC News feature today.

It’s been wonderful to see end of life doulas gaining more visibility in the media. We’re so grateful to our members and people they have supported who have been willing to share their personal experiences of doula support, for helping to bring these important conversations into the spotlight.

Thank you to Smitha Mundasad for the beautifully and sensitively written piece. Read more in the article at BBC News - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cp9vp0ld1leo
