💞Sometimes, all we really want is to feel understood by the people we love most. 💞
One of the most beautiful things about holding Mother & Daughter Circles is witnessing what happens when a mum and her daughter are given the time and space to truly see one another.
I know from own experience that motherhood is oftwn full of things that are sometimes difficult to explain.
That feeling of wondering whether you're doing enough.
Whether you're actually getting through to your daughter.
Whether she understands just how much you love her, even when it might not always feel that way to her.
Because sometimes, what she experiences as nagging, behind it is a mum trying to protect her.
A mum who can see the potential hurt, the disappointments, the situations she wishes she could spare her daughter from.
You want to guide her.
You want to help her make good choices.
You want to protect her from the things you know can hurt.
And yet, you also know she needs room to grow.
You know in her life she will make her own mistakes & learn her own lessons.
You wammnt her to discover who she is, even when that means watching her walk towards something you wish you could shield her from.
And perhaps one of the hardest parts of being a mum is learning how to stand beside your daughter through those moments without taking away her opportunity to find her own way.
To witness her pain without feeling you have to fix it.
To offer guidance without taking away her independence.
To keep showing up, even when you're not sure she's hearing you.
And underneath it all, you worry if your getting it right & hope that one day she'll understand that no matter how you tried to show up for her, it came from love. ❤️
At our last Mother & Daughter Circle, we created space for these feelings to be expressed.
Space for mums and daughters to sit opposite one another, slow down and really look at each other.
To notice the little things they might usually overlook.
To say the things that don't always find their way into everyday conversations.
To share what they wished the other person understood about them.
And to just listen — not to defend, correct or explain, but simply to understand.
One mum described how the experience helped her feel lighter, more relaxed and able to communicate with her daughter in a way that everyday life doesn't always make room for.
It was a true joy to witness.
Because sometimes, we carry so much inside us, hoping the people we love will somehow understand without us ever quite finding the words.
Sometimes, we assume they already know, sometimes, we need a little space that feels safe enough to say it out loud.
So we can be heard & understood.
What a gift it is to be able to see the person sitting opposite us soften as something finally begins to makes sense.
To meet each other's eyes, perhaps through tears, and recognise the love that's been there all along — even when it has been hidden beneath frustration, worry, misunderstandings or the busyness of everyday life.
As one mother shared in her feedback:
"The whole experience gave us both a safe space to speak, connect and find comfort in each other."
She described leaving feeling lighter and more relaxed.
This is what I have wanted thess circles to offer.
Not a perfect relationship.
Not a magical solution to every disagreement or difficult conversation.
But just a little space to be able to pause.
To be able to listen differently.
And understand a little more of what lies beneath each other's words and actions.
This is why I hold Mother & Daughter Circles.
A space to put the distractions aside, soften the noise of everyday life and make room for the conversations, the connection and the moments that matter.
If you've been wishing for a little more time to connect with your daughter, or hoping to understand one another in a different way, perhaps this is something you might both enjoy.
