HydraFacial + Dermaplaning 🤝🏽 beautiful glowing skin 💫

This is what dermaplaning and a HydraFacial do together, and it's why they're such a well matched pair. Dermaplaning gently removes the buildup of dead skin cells and fine facial hair sitting on the surface, the layer that stops light bouncing off the skin and makes it look dull no matter how good your routine is. The HydraFacial then deeply cleanses, exfoliates and floods the fresh skin underneath with hydration, which is exactly what creates that immediate, lit from within glow you can see here.

The bonus most people don't realise is that everything works better afterwards. With that surface layer gone, your skincare actually absorbs properly and makeup sits smoother, so the results carry on long after you've left the clinic ✨

If your skin's been looking a little dull and you want that instant fresh glow, this is one of the most loved treatments in the clinic for exactly that reason 💜

Some habits come with the job.

We wear SPF on a grey Tuesday in November because we spend our days treating the pigmentation and lines that sun exposure leaves behind. We ask about your sleep before we look at your skin because cortisol drives inflammation, and inflammation shows up on your face long before a serum can fix it. We turn down treatments people have already booked and paid for, because assessing properly sometimes means telling you the timing is wrong or you don't need it yet.

That's what happens when you understand what's going on underneath the skin. You'd rather get the answer right than get the booking.

If you want an honest look at your skin, our Observ scanner consultation is where every journey here starts, with no pressure to book a thing on the day. Tap the link in our bio to get started 💜

How often should you actually be having skin treatments?

There’s a common assumption that either more is always better, or that a treatment is a one-and-done fix. In reality, it all comes down to the type of treatment and what you’re trying to achieve, and getting the frequency right matters just as much as choosing the treatment itself.

Some work best as a course, a set number spaced out over a few months to build a result, after which you can step back to occasional maintenance once or twice a year.

Others, like facials, are better as regular upkeep, ideally around every four weeks, which works with the skin’s natural renewal cycle.

That said, the best plan is always one you can realistically keep to. Consistency you can sustain will do far more for your skin than an intensive schedule you can’t maintain.

If you’d like help working out the right rhythm for your skin and your lifestyle, message ‘SKIN’ and we’ll talk you through it, or head to the link in our bio to book a consultation 💌

Unpopular opinion from a clinic that’s perfectly happy being unpopular about it: most of the rules aesthetics follows were never written with the patient in mind.

Chase the trend, sell in the room, treat the face and ignore the person attached to it. At Amethyst, those rules never made much sense, because your skin was never a separate thing that misbehaves on its own.

It’s wired directly to your brain and your gut, cortisol drives the inflammation behind so many of the concerns that walk through our door, and there’s now a whole field of research called psychodermatology studying exactly that. So when we ask about your stress and your sleep before we ever talk treatments. It’s the part of your skin most clinics never touch ✨

The same thinking runs through everything else here, right down to only stocking products that earn their place and never asking you to decide on a plan while you’re sitting in the room 💜

More is not better when it comes to actives, and it’s one of the most common mistakes I see doing real harm to people’s skin!

There’s a belief that if a little of something works, more must be better, and it’s led to a lot of people using retinol, tretinoin and acids far more often than their skin can actually handle.

The result is a damaged skin barrier, which is the very thing that keeps your skin healthy, protected and functioning as it should. Compromise it, and you often make the exact concerns you were trying to fix considerably worse.

The signs are easy to miss if you don’t know to look for them. Tightness after cleansing, products that sting or burn, lingering dryness - all of these things are your skin telling you something is wrong.

Used sensibly, actives are brilliant. Used too hard, too often, they can prematurely age your skin and trigger or worsen conditions like rosacea, acne and perioral dermatitis. The difference nearly always comes down to guidance, which is exactly why it’s worth asking before you start.

If you’re not sure whether you’re overdoing it, DM ACTIVES, and I’ll help you get the balance right, or head to the link in our bio to book a skin consultation in clinic 💌

✨ Before & After | Redness Reduction with Obagi NU-GEN Cellular Renewal Serum

These results highlight the visible improvement in facial redness following consistent use of the Obagi NU-GEN Cellular Renewal Serum.

This advanced serum is designed to support healthier looking skin by helping to strengthen the skin barrier, deeply hydrate and visibly reduce redness. Its AGE CTRL Complex features ingredients including NAD+, NMN and niacinamide, which help support skin renewal, improve barrier function and promote a more even looking complexion.

For clients with redness prone skin, including those with rosacea, a healthy skin barrier is essential. While Obagi NU-GEN is not a treatment or cure for rosacea, supporting the skin barrier and improving hydration may help reduce the appearance of redness and improve overall skin comfort.

✨ Benefits may include:
• Reduced visible redness
• Improved skin hydration
• Stronger skin barrier
• Smoother texture
• Brighter, healthier looking skin
• A more even looking complexion

Every skin journey is unique, and results will vary. A personalised consultation is always recommended to determine the best skincare routine for your skin concerns.

Most skin advice is guesswork until someone actually looks beneath the surface, and that’s where a proper assessment changes everything.

The skin you see in the mirror only tells part of the story. So much of what shapes how it looks and behaves is sitting below the surface, invisible to the naked eye, whether that’s sun damage that hasn’t shown itself yet, pigmentation forming deeper down, or dehydration and congestion that aren’t obvious to touch. Recommending treatment without seeing any of that is really just an educated guess.

This is why every plan we create starts with a proper consultation and a proper look. Being able to assess skin at this level means what we suggest is based on what your skin actually needs, not what it appears to need on the day. It’s the difference between a routine that sort of works and one that’s built specifically for you.

If you’d like to understand what’s really going on with your skin, head to the link in our bio to book a consultation with Helen or send us a message if you have any questions - we’re always happy to help 💌

Skin boosters have become one of the most requested treatments in aesthetics, and somehow also one of the most confusing, because they all sort of sound like they do the same thing - so how are you supposed to understand what the best option is for your skin?

The idea behind them is actually simple: they don’t add volume, they work within the skin itself, flooding it with hydration and encouraging it to rebuild its own collagen. That’s why the result looks like really good skin rather than anything you can point to.

The part nobody explains is that they’re not interchangeable. Some are built for glow and hydration, some repair skin that’s inflamed or thinning, and some are designed purely for delicate areas like the under eyes, so the right one depends entirely on your skin and where it’s at ✨

Matching the booster to the skin is our job, not yours, and that’s exactly what the consultation is for.

A proper look at your skin on the Observ scanner, an honest recommendation, and no pressure to book anything on the day. Ready to start your journey? DM ‘BOOST’ to learn more or tap the link in our bio to book a consultation in clinic 💜
