Sometimes ones choice of foods, are often associated to how a person is feeling at any given time. This maybe in the form of comfort eating. It really is worth asking the question why ?
What is your go to food when under pressure or 'stressed'? You may choose a healthy option, but often people find comfort from certain foods - sugar rich foods.. etc This can very much link to memories:
Places, People. etc
Example for me. When i was younger, my nan would drink copious amounts of tea and eat toast. So, the relationship with my nan left a lasting impression. When i seek comfort in her absence i would naturally gravitate to tea and toast.
We as people really do become creatures of habit associated to memory, connections and emotional depth (emotional health).
When this can be problematic is this......If the option of food or drink becomes is unhealthy and becomes a addiction. Then it would be advisable to look at the reason why?
Loss
Grief
Shame
Loneliness
Isolation
If anyone would like to explore the relationship with food n mood, im here to advise on the Psychology behind this.
