A Closing Message from Pattigift Therapy
After 23 years of service, Pattigift Therapy closed its business in March 2026.
Concluding this chapter has been challenging. Over the past twenty-plus years, Pattigift Therapy has had the honour of collaborating with individuals, families, communities, organisations, and professionals who share our conviction that mental health, healing, and wellbeing should be addressed with understanding, dignity, and cultural sensitivity.
From our earliest days, we sought to do things differently. We created spaces where people could talk, reflect, heal and develop; delivered counselling, psychotherapy and other therapeutic interventions; supported communities; and developed training that placed African knowledge, perspectives and ways of understanding psychological wellbeing at its centre.
We are proud of the conversations we started, the relationships we built, the practitioners and organisations we worked alongside, and, most importantly, the many people who trusted us to be part of their journey.
Over the years, Pattigift Therapy has become much more than a service. It has become a platform for asking difficult questions about mental health, challenging stigma, encouraging self-care and exploring what psychological healing can look like when culture, identity, history and community are taken seriously.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who supported Pattigift Therapy over the past 23 years — our service users, colleagues, therapists, associates, partners, commissioners, funders, community organisations, professional networks, supporters, and everyone who recommended our work or simply believed in what we were trying to achieve.
To everyone who shared their stories and journeys with us: thank you. It was an honour.
To those who worked with us and helped realise our vision: thank you. Your contribution will always be part of the Pattigift story.
To everyone who followed, shared, encouraged and supported our work on social media and across our wider networks: thank you for being part of the journey.
Although the business has now closed, the ideas, conversations and principles that shaped Pattigift Therapy do not end here. The importance of culturally informed psychological practice, African-centred approaches to healing, psychological liberation and community wellbeing remains as relevant as ever.
For now, however, we simply want to mark the end of a remarkable 23-year chapter and express our genuine appreciation:
Thank you for walking with us.
With gratitude,
Pattigift Therapy
