Feedback like this tells me that these types of events are more than just a social gathering.

The ladies really embraced the evening as we shared laughter, stories and great vibes. New friendships were made, connections grew, and everyone had space to simply enjoy being together.

And next up… Sip & Play: The Christmas Edition! 🎄✨

Watch this space. 👀

💡 A little Coffee & Connect lightbulb moment!

I wanted Coffee & Connect to be more than just another meetup.

It’s a space to come together, connect, share stories, have a laugh, relax and take a bit of time for yourself after a busy day.

But I also wanted it to have substance. Something that gives back as well as supporting your own wellbeing.

So I’ve teamed up with LoveBrum for the next six months, helping to showcase the amazing grassroots projects they support across Birmingham.

Each Coffee & Connect helps support grassroots mental health and wellbeing projects across Birmingham through our partnership with LoveBrum. ❤️

So you get to take some time for yourself, connect with others and support your wellbeing, while also helping support people and projects in our communities.

Our goal over the next six months is to raise £1,000 for LoveBrum to help support the grassroots projects they work with.

Let’s make it happen! ☕❤️

📅 1st October
☕ 35 spaces available, so we can keep it friendly, relaxed and give everyone a chance to connect.

We’d love to have you there. ❤️

Have you ever talked about your story so many times that you simply feel talked out?

You still want to understand yourself. You still want to explore what's going on. You just don't feel another talking-based approach is what you need right now.

I will always recommend counselling and therapy because I believe there is a place for both.

But maybe you think:

“That's not the route I want to go down.”

And that's okay.

There is room for different approaches.

Creative wellbeing offers another route, using creativity, journaling, reflection and conversation to explore your mental health and wellbeing.

You might write, create, reflect, talk or simply give yourself space to think differently about what you're experiencing.

It might lead you towards another form of support, or it might simply be what works for you.

You don't have to find your way into wellbeing in the same way as everyone else.

This is my approach.

When was the last time you actually stopped and thought about your life?

Not what needs doing next.

Not what everyone else needs from you.

You. Your experiences. Your story.

The things you’ve been through. What’s changed you. What you’ve learned. What you’re still carrying. Where you are now and where you want to go next.

CREATE creates that space through creativity, conversation and reflection.

And that’s exactly what the CREATE programme brings into organisations, giving staff and service users the opportunity to explore their experiences, reflect, connect and think about what comes next.

If you’re an organisation thinking about how you create space for the people you support and the people who support them, come along to the FREE CREATE information session on 7 October.

Come and see what CREATE could look like in your organisation.

Sometimes, creating space is where things start to shift.

I recently visited Grounded in Selly Oak to find out more about the work they’re doing and the community they support.

Grounded has a strong connection with University of Birmingham students, and during term time the space is busy, lively and full of energy. It’s quieter during the holidays, but the purpose remains the same: creating a welcoming space where people can access support without the barriers and stigma that can sometimes surround mental health services.

What really stood out to me was their combined holistic and clinical approach.

Alongside workshops and activities, they offer talking therapy and have links with Birmingham Mind and the NHS, creating different routes into support depending on what someone needs.

Their drop-in service is also helping them see more people accessing support earlier, with a preventative approach rather than waiting until someone reaches crisis point.

Like many charities, funding remains a major concern. What I found interesting was how they’ve diversified their income through room hire, merchandise and paid-for workshops, helping them continue developing the work they do.

I also really liked their approach to partnership working. They’re keen to work with organisations and freelance facilitators who share their ethos and genuinely care about making a difference.

It was great to see their vision in practice and to spend time learning more about what they’re creating at Grounded in Selly Oak.

There’s a lot to take away from organisations that are finding different ways to make wellbeing support more accessible, welcoming and part of everyday life.

One thing I’ve noticed after almost every workshop or event I host…

People ask, “When are we meeting up again?”

And that tells me something.

People don’t just want a one-off workshop. They want somewhere to meet up, connect with others and enjoy being part of something.

A space where you can come as you are, meet new people and see what develops.

So, based on the feedback I’ve received, I’m introducing Coffee & Connect, a monthly meetup.

☕ Light refreshments
🎶 Mellow music
💬 Good conversation
🤝 A chance to meet new people

Nothing formal. No preparation required. No judgement.

Just a community that gets you.

And there are so many things that can grow from that…

New friendships. Social events. Collaborations. New ideas. Or simply having somewhere you genuinely feel you belong.

📅 Join us on 1st October.

September always feels like a bit of a turning point.

Summer starts to fade, autumn begins to appear and somehow the year starts to feel like it’s moving again.

Rather than asking yourself what you should be doing this month, maybe ask:

What would I like September to bring?

More time for something that matters to you?

A decision you've been putting off?

Something you've been curious about?

A change in how you spend your time?

More connection?

It doesn't have to be a big change.

Sometimes it's about noticing what you want more of, what you want less of, and where you'd like to put your energy as the season changes.

So, what would you like September to bring? 🍂

"But what I choose to leave behind are the experiences that no longer bring meaning to my life. Not every memory am I meant to carry . Only the ones that make me wiser, more resilient the ones that help me rewrite my story."

The stories we live with.

Not all of them are ours.

Some were told to us.

You’re shy.
You’re difficult.
You’re the responsible one.
You’re not academic.
You’re too sensitive.
You’re not confident.
You’re the strong one.
You don’t need help.

And sometimes, we hear these things so often that they stop sounding like someone else’s opinion.

They start sounding like facts.

But who told you?

And when did you start believing them?

Some of the stories we carry have been with us for years. They can shape how we see ourselves, what we believe we're capable of and even what we allow ourselves to want.

But growing means being willing to look at those stories again.

Is this who I am?

Or is this who I was told I was?

Because there’s a difference.

And sometimes, the next chapter begins when you realise you get to decide which stories you carry forward.

Why I love Sip & Play ❤️

Sip & Play is a different kind of wellbeing experience.

It’s about good conversation, laughter, play, creativity and those unexpected moments where you realise you’re not the only one who feels the way you do.

And then you hear things like:

“I feel seen and not judged.”

“I feel like I’ve found my tribe.”

That’s the bit that gets me.

Feeling comfortable enough to be yourself.
Meeting people you wouldn’t normally meet.
Laughing without having to explain yourself.
Being heard without being analysed.
Finding connection without having to force it.

That’s why I love Sip & Play.

It might look like a game, a drink and a few conversation cards.

But the experience is so much more than that.

Come for the experience.
Stay for the connection. ❤️

Christmas Edition coming soon 🎄

Yesterday I hosted Sip & Play in partnership with H.U.M.A.N.

The days leading up to it were manic. I’d spent the weekend in bed recovering, then had a meeting to prepare for, which left me with far less time than usual to get everything ready.

If you’ve ever planned an event, you know how much time and effort it takes — and how exhausting it can be, especially when nothing seems to go right. Printers stop working. You can’t find the things you need, even though you know they’re somewhere. You start to panic and ask yourself, “Why am I even doing this?”

But you already know the answer.
You want everyone to have a special experience. You want people to return and bring a friend. On top of that, you create something unique: a game that is emotive, where stories can be shared and people can support one another. You create a safe space.

Because it’s personal, you want people to enjoy it and learn from it.
And that is exactly what happened at Sip & Play. Everyone loved it. The laughter, the stories we shared, the alignment — it was a moment.

Women thanked me for putting on an evening that was different, yet made us look at our lives and our journeys. There is strength in connection, and this evening demonstrated that.

Yes, planning events is not for the faint-hearted. But when it all comes together, that feeling stays with you.

I created the experience. You brought the vibes.

THANK YOU, each and every one of you 🙏🏾❤️
