🎉 One Year at Tow Law Pharmacy! 🎉
We've just had our one year anniversary since we took ownership of Tow Law Pharmacy, and we would like to say a huge thank you to all of our patients and the wider community for your incredible support.
It has been a busy and exciting year, with plenty of changes, challenges and new services along the way. We are extremely grateful for your patience, kind words, feedback and continued trust in our team.
Owning a community pharmacy is a real privilege, and we are proud to serve Tow Law and the surrounding rural communities. We remain committed to providing a friendly, reliable and increasingly clinical pharmacy service that continues to meet the needs of our patients.
Thank you to our fantastic pharmacy team for all of their hard work, and most importantly, thank you to every patient who has supported us over the past year.

🦟 Been bitten? Think Pharmacy First!
Most insect bites settle on their own, but sometimes they can become infected.

Look out for:
🔴 Increasing redness or swelling
🔥 Skin that feels hot or painful
💧 Pus or fluid from the bite
📈 Symptoms that are getting worse rather than better

Through the NHS Pharmacy First service, our pharmacist can assess infected insect bites and stings in adults and children aged one year and over.

Where appropriate, we can provide NHS treatment—including antibiotics when clinically necessary—without you needing to see your GP first.

Simply walk in. Our pharmacist will assess your symptoms and advise on the best treatment.

⚠️ Medicines recall: Ramipril 2.5mg capsules (Crescent Pharma Limited)

One batch of Crescent Pharma Limited Ramipril 2.5mg capsules is being recalled as a precaution after a packaging error.

This follows a complaint which identified that, inside a sealed carton of Crescent Pharma Limited Ramipril 2.5mg capsules, two blister strips of Ramipril 10mg capsules were found by a healthcare professional.

If you take Crescent Pharma Limited Ramipril 2.5mg, check the packaging of your medicine for batch number GR155023. If your pack contains blister strips that are labelled as Ramipril 10mg capsules, do not to take the medicine and contact your dispensing pharmacy.

If the carton contains blister strips that are correctly labelled as Crescent Pharma Limited Ramipril 2.5mg capsules, you do not need to take further action and should continue to take your medicine as usual.

If you have concerns about your medication or experience any suspected side effects, speak to your pharmacist or another healthcare professional. Patients and healthcare professionals can also report suspected side effects via our Yellow Card scheme.

📢 Bank Holiday Reminder

We will be closed on Bank Holiday Monday 25th May.

Please make sure you order your repeat prescriptions in good time, especially if you use our delivery service.

GP surgeries and pharmacies often get very busy before a bank holiday, so ordering early helps us make sure your medication is ready and delivered before the weekend.

As many of you already know, Tow Law Pharmacy will be moving to 126 Dans Castle, Tow Law, DL13 4AZ.

This has been a very difficult decision, but this move is necessary to keep the pharmacy open. Without relocating, we would not be able to continue providing services in a safe and sustainable way.

This is not a challenge faced by Tow Law alone. A recent report in The Pharmaceutical Journal highlighted warnings from thousands of pharmacy owners across England that many pharmacies are at real risk of closure without proper funding from the government/NHS, with patients at risk of losing one of the most accessible parts of the NHS.

Our main aim is to make sure local people still have a pharmacy they can rely on for prescriptions, advice, support and NHS services. We’ve also introduced a delivery service (unfunded by the NHS) for those in the local area who wish to use it, whatever your reasons - just let us know if you want your prescription delivered.

We are very grateful for the support the community continues to show us as a small local business. Choosing to use local services helps keep important healthcare provision in the area and supports the future of community pharmacy in Tow Law. Every prescription, visit and kind word is genuinely appreciated.
