On Thursday night, along with the incredible staff at St Clare Hospice, and a group of volunteers, we took to the streets of Harlow, Epping and Loughton to place 32 life-sized, hand-painted lions ready for you all to discover! There are also 31 smaller Lions, beautifully painted by our local schools 🦁✨

Please follow for all the latest information, download the app for just £1.99, or pick up a free paper trail from any St Clare Hospice shop. Then head out over the summer holidays to find all 63 lions!

It’s a fantastic, family-friendly activity that’s fun, free and helps raise vital funds for our amazing local hospice. Collect rewards through the app and even win prizes as you complete the trail.

🧡 We are very proud to announce that Barringtons Funeral Directors are supporting the 'Lions on the Loose' public art trail on behalf of St Clare Hospice. This wonderful, unique initiative will bring 31 beautifully decorated, life-sized lion sculptures to Harlow, Epping, and Loughton in Summer 2026, with a further 32 smaller lions that have been decorated by local school children and youth groups.

💛 Introducing Meadow, the Unique Memory Lion!

🧡 Barringtons are thrilled to sponsor this incredibly special sculpture for the Lions on the Loose trail. Unlike the other lions, Meadow features 300 hand-painted butterflies dedicated to remembering our loved ones.

💛 For a small donation to St Clare Hospice, you can honour someone special by adding their name to Meadow, the hospice's official Memory Lion. Their name will be hand-painted onto a butterfly on the sculpture.

🤍 Very sad to hear that the beautiful Mel Schilling, a genuine source of positivity, happiness and strength, has died of cancer at the age of only 54.

🤍 Our sincere condolences are with her young family and all who love her.

🤍 Beautiful words from her husband:

Melanie Jane Brisbane-Schilling passed away peacefully today, surrounded by love.

In her final moments, when I thought cancer had taken away her ability to speak, she ushered me closer and whispered a message for Maddie and me that will sustain me for the rest of my life.

It took all of her remaining strength, and that gesture summed up our wee Melsie perfectly. Even then, her only thought was for Maddie and me.

This is a woman who became a new mum and a TV star at 42 and nailed both.

This is a woman who, through two years of chemotherapy, when she could barely lift her head from the pillow, never complained and never stopped showing courage, grace, compassion and empathy, and never missed a day of filming.

To most of you, she was Mel Schilling, matriarch of MAFS and queen of reality TV. To Maddie and me, she was our wee Melsie: an incredible mum, role model, and soulmate.

On behalf of our family and her incredible friendship group, thank you for the support from around the world.

Life can be beautiful, and life can be incredibly cruel. But ultimately, life is fleeting, fragile, and tomorrow is promised to no one. If you can do anything to honour Mel, please live life to the full, love your people well, and try not to sweat the small stuff.

I had 15 wonderful years with my soulmate, and it was the privilege of my life to be by her side. For that, I will be forever thankful. Goodbye, my love. My one. Until we meet again.

🩷 There really is no bond quite like the one we share with our Mums. They are our first best friend, our biggest supporters and the heartbeat of the family.

🩷 It is a simple, yet powerful truth, that so much of our strength and kindness comes directly from the women who raised us.

🩷 For those navigating life without their Mum, please know that her love does not end with her absence. It lives on in who you are and stays with us forever.

🩷 We wish we could have kept our own Mums forever. .. Happy Mother's Day, with love from Nikki & Lisa xx
