It goes without saying that the best thing to invest in, is a pelvic health physio assessment with an experienced pelvic health physio!

But these items are ones I recommend to patients on a daily basis.

1. Vaginal dilators-I love the silicone dilators
2. Scar Erase silicone strips after a C-section
3. Golden kiwis! Two a day keeps constipation away
4. A space occupying bladder support if you leak urine with impact exercise-such as Diveen, (thanks to for putting me onto this one!) and Contam
5. for prolapse symptoms

Please don’t just go and buy any of the above without an assessment first!!

Except the kiwis.
Get those down ya asap!

DO YOU GET YOUR SYMPTOMS WHEN LYING DOWN? Probably not.

As pelvic health physios, we need to assess your pelvic floor in ALL THE POSITIONS. Especially symptomatic positions.

The pelvic floor muscles work together with your breathing, abdominal muscles, hips, spine, posture, and respond to the FORCES OF GRAVITY.

A pelvic floor assessed in lying, may behave very differently when you’re standing, squatting, lifting, bending, or walking.

We are assessing;
1. Strength (can it contract?)
2. Relaxation (can it let go?)
3. Endurance (can it hold support?)
4. Coordination (does it work with breathing and movement?)
5. Reflexes (can it contract and relax quickly?)
6. Function under load (does it work when gravity, pressure and movement challenge it?)

Our assessment needs to understand how your pelvic floor and whole body manages pressure and movement in the positions that matter to your symptoms.

does a fantastic course about this subject and has a brilliant chapter in her new book about the pelvic floor load capacity.

At a retreat weekend- an amazing community of women who have adventures and travel in camper vans, run by the awesome .

Was delighted to pass on some women’s health knowledge and I certainly learnt one thing too;

I want a van 😂

Just need all the van tips please ladies!!

If only it were as simple as “clamp your fanny”!

They are such wonderfully complex muscles, that play such an important role.

Supervised pelvic floor muscle training, with an experienced pelvic health physio is the FIRST LINE, GOLD STANDARD treatment for incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse (NICE guidelines )

Did I miss anything from this impressive list??

Today I’ve said;

“Bend your arms” instead of knees

I’ve forgotten the word for “oestrogen”

and literally stopped talking mid sentence.

This heatwave is affecting my brain!

Please tell me it’s not just me???
