The rocks in a backpack is a powerful analogy I often share with my clients to help them see that anxiety, low mood, and feelings of low self-worth are rarely caused by a single issue. Throughout life, we pick up rocks—representing trauma, divorce, bereavement, bullying, rejection, and work struggles—that we rarely set down. Over time, the bag becomes so heavy that it becomes overwhelming. In therapy, we carefully unpack the bag, one rock at a time, allowing you to understand and process it
Then, we let go of those rocks, leaving you feeling lighter, freer, and more at peace.
