Therapy With Kat

Therapy With Kat Therapy that makes sense of the messy stuff. For adults and parents finding their way through neurodivergent life.

I’m Kat, a qualified psychotherapist offering online and email therapy for adults across the UK. I help people who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious or emotionally drained to reconnect with themselves and feel more in control. I specialise in working with neurodivergent experiences (yours or a loved one’s), stress, trauma, and self-esteem. I work holistically and relationally — which means w

e look at your whole life and experiences, not just a diagnosis or symptom. Therapy with me is gentle, realistic, and rooted in compassion. No pressure, no perfection — just a supportive space to be fully yourself.

The votes are in, and it wasn’t even close. Billy won by a landslide! 🗳️🐾

Thank you to everyone who voted on my new profile picture! I have to admit, as a therapist, I absolutely love why I think this photo got so much love.

In psychology, we talk about “social safety signallers.” These are small, subconscious cues that tell our nervous systems, “You are safe here. This person is approachable, grounded, and non-threatening.”

It turns out a scruffy, warm-eyed pup is one of the ultimate safety signallers nature has to offer. (Though please don’t tell Billy this, his ego is already big enough).

Of course, “safety” doesn’t mean “perfection.” While this photo looks very serene, the behind-the-scenes reality of my “co-therapist” usually involves:

Interpreting window-barking emergencies 🗣️

Testing the boundaries of office decor 🐶

Falling fast asleep in my arms mid-session when he finally settles down 😴

If you ever hear some soft snoring during our online sessions, now you know exactly who to blame!

Even though we connect online, my goal is always to create a virtual space where your nervous system can finally take a deep breath and let its guard down—right from the comfort of your own couch.

Thank you for helping me choose the perfect photo to represent that. Welcome to our corner of the internet! 💜

What do I wish my clients knew?

It’s actually not that much, or that complicated.

Quirky and creative? How wonderful!

Burnt out and needing accommodations? Suddenly it's a different conversation.

It's interesting how neurodivergence gets celebrated when it fits neatly into someone else's comfort zone - but the moment there's actual struggle or a need for support, the narrative shifts.

This is one of the reasons so many people fly under the radar. You probably know more neurodivergent people than you think - they're just really good at showing you the 'acceptable' parts.

Link in bio for the full breakdown of why you think you don't know anyone neurodivergent (spoiler: you're wrong).

Plot twist: that "quirky" friend? The "anxious" one? The colleague who's "just really organized"?

Probably neurodivergent.

When 1 in 5 people are ND but you think you don't know any, something's not adding up.

Spoiler: it's masking, stereotypes, and a whole lot of survival strategies you never noticed.
