The votes are in, and it wasn’t even close. Billy won by a landslide! 🗳️🐾
Thank you to everyone who voted on my new profile picture! I have to admit, as a therapist, I absolutely love why I think this photo got so much love.
In psychology, we talk about “social safety signallers.” These are small, subconscious cues that tell our nervous systems, “You are safe here. This person is approachable, grounded, and non-threatening.”
It turns out a scruffy, warm-eyed pup is one of the ultimate safety signallers nature has to offer. (Though please don’t tell Billy this, his ego is already big enough).
Of course, “safety” doesn’t mean “perfection.” While this photo looks very serene, the behind-the-scenes reality of my “co-therapist” usually involves:
Interpreting window-barking emergencies 🗣️
Testing the boundaries of office decor 🐶
Falling fast asleep in my arms mid-session when he finally settles down 😴
If you ever hear some soft snoring during our online sessions, now you know exactly who to blame!
Even though we connect online, my goal is always to create a virtual space where your nervous system can finally take a deep breath and let its guard down—right from the comfort of your own couch.
Thank you for helping me choose the perfect photo to represent that. Welcome to our corner of the internet! 💜
