Syringomyelia is a painful neurological condition which affects Cavalier Spaniels and caused by selective breeding.

Grace has regular physio treatment to reduce nerve pain and improve her mobility. Myofascial release is a very light treatment which calms nerves and releases fascial restrictions. As fascia surrounds every muscle and organ in the body this can be a very powerful treatment having an impact on the whole body.

Grace's owner sees a significant change in Grace without her regular treatment which keeps her mobility and posture functional. For these treatments I team up with The Laser Vet Nurse as Grace is more comfortable with manual therapy and electrotherapy on different days. We work together to provide the optimal treatment protocol for Grace.

If your spaniel is itching a lot, particularly at one side of their neck, it might be worth discussing this condition with your vet. Furthermore if you have had a diagnosis for syringomyelia do get in touch to find out how physiotherapy can help

Millie has had treatment to help with joint pain and compensatory muscle soreness.

I work calmly and quietly with all my patients taking it at their pace. Each treatment is unique to the individual needs of each patient with techniques being adapted to suit.

Millie has significantly less pain and is improving in strength. Her owners have noticed less episodes of lameness and significantly reduced recovery time if Millie does have some discomfort.

I'm really proud of Millie and very pleased with her progress β™₯οΈπŸ•

Your horse could have a weak core.

Lacking strength through your core can manifest in many ways

Poor performance and poor form
Tiring quickly as the body is working over time
Back pain
Heavy contact or inconsistent contact
Lack of suppleness

The core doesn't just include abdominal muscles but the small muscles deep within our bodies supporting our spine and pelvis.

Physiotherapy can help to relieve these symptoms and strengthening exercises targeted to your horse's core can help to strengthen these deep muscles.

Activation exercises can recruit muscles before you have even mounted your horse. Groundwork exercises can improve core strength to prepare a horse to carry a rider.

Tess has been having treatment for an intermittent forelimb lameness which her owner was concerned would be limiting her daily life.

On just her second treatment her owner has seen a huge improvement with no lame steps πŸ₯³

A huge improvement for her comfort and quality of life making her more mobile

Here I am performing a forelimb protraction stretch to target the shoulder muscles which are active in the retraction phase of movement. This helps to lengthen muscle fibres and release tightness.

I think she quite likes her treatment πŸ˜‰πŸΆπŸ–€

Laser therapy for scar tissue is beneficial for realigning fibres and promoting healing. This creates a tissue that is most like the parent tissue reducing the likelihood of further injury and improving aesthetic appearance.

The MLS Vet Blue laser is a class 4 laser which targets all the energy directly into the cells so none is lost in heating the surface cells.

The laser uses 2 wavelengths to achieve the best results for healing
