What an absolutely soul replenishing day . A huge thank you to ARC Blackburn for the outstanding event held Wesley Hall Methodist Church - Blackburn and every one who cooked sensational food and performed such emotive music . Refugee week is always important but in times like these - it’s incredibly important that we stand with our Sisters, Brothers and fellow humans loudly .
I urge anyone who’s able to attend any of the events being held across the UK ( Blackburn with Darwen - we’re spoiled - events are happening all week including at the Cathedral and Museum ) and connect with others . Once we connect - we can begin to understand. To learn . To bear witness to so many things which can only enrich our own lives.

We are looking for volunteers to join us - we want to create a SOBS group ( survivors of those bereaved by su***de ) for Blackburn with Darwen . Your time commitment is very manageable and you will be joining a supportive cohort and receive ongoing training and support from SOBS themselves . I know a little of how many people across BwD have experienced bereavement by su***de . We need to create a safe , boundaried environment for premium level support for those survivors. Help us achieve this 💛

A huge , huge thank you to everyone who joined us for this afternoons session around su***de prevention and intervention 💛today we all gathered to make Mexican folk art “
Sacred hearts “ to hand out to attendees at this years World Su***de Prevention Day event . To also raise awareness of the Orange Button Community Scheme . How life affirming it is to gather with community over a common goal . Not simply to raise awareness but to be proactive. To reach out to each other and the wider community - to connect . To bring compassion , hope and show that even when we may feel alone - there are those who see us . Who value us . And we can be there for each other.

Today I got to spend time with these three amazing warriors who are volunteers for so many groups and organisations across BwD - including with us at Re-Align Futures . Jackie has been a huge advocate for over a decade and I don’t think there’s been a world su***de prevention day she hasn’t been a huge active supporter of . She’s volunteered for us for many , many years and for other groups too . How lucky I am to walk beside her 💛
Then we have pictured the wonderful Carla and Joanne who volunteer for many organisations and have joined us quite recently yet already helped in so many ways magnificently .
Without volunteers we would not be able to attend so many events , host workshops , create activism around su***de prevention . They bring with them a huge amount of experience, skill , compassion , often lived experience, passion and all are trained and fully supported . As they in turn support me and everyone. Without each other - in all ways - we are unable to create the huge ripple effects we try and achieve . Together , whispers become a rally cry 💛
Huge love and thanks to these warriors and to every person who has helped and does help the revolution around su***de . You matter very much indeed and I am beyond grateful 💛

This morning I had the pleasure of spending time with the wonderful Joanne , su***de prevention manager for the UK & Europe for .
It was a genuine joy to reconnect and share our journey’s- our shared passion around Su***de prevention and the living works community training programs. The day I attended ASIST as a delegate is the day my life changed . Whilst I’d always had a strong drive in su***de prevention and intervention - worked and lived around the issue for decades already - ASIST felt like I had found “ it “ . I’d found something which combined evidence based learning alongside world leading experts in the field , those with lived experience and activists who had combined all learnings and come up with a platinum level training course for anyone 16 years and above to learn practically how to help sometime at risk of su***de keep themselves alive . How to press “ pause “ . How to ask directly and compassionately, listen to any responce and signpost appropriately. It felt like breathing the freshest of air around the topic of su***de . It rid me of any remnants of fear , uncomfortable feelings and worries of “what if I say the wrong thing ??” Being able to be a tiny part of the world wide revolution around su***de is the greatest gift my life has brought - other than my two beautiful children . Closely followed by my Tribe of Brothers, Sisters and humans I’ve had the honour of connecting with over the years .
Yes I felt very self conscious being videoed answering some questions but all we can do is push through uncomfortable things when the result might just help one person find light .
Beyond grateful for Joanne’s visit and kindness . And for every gorgeous human I have met on adventures to date . Together we can be the change so desperately needed 💛

Do you live , volunteer, work or are in education across Blackburn with Darwen ? If so - please join us next Tuesday 9th June from 1-4 pm at Livesey Hub ( Rothesay road Bburn ) for a relaxing afternoon of connection and art .
This workshop will see us making Mexican folk art hearts from recycled aluminium which we will be giving out on our stall at World Su***de Prevention Day 💛
Free to all , refreshments available and great company guaranteed.
It is only together that we make a positive difference around su***de prevention .
