ELBOW PAIN CAN AFFECT FAR MORE THAN YOUR SPORT
Opening a jar. Carrying shopping. Using tools. Typing. Lifting a kettle. Even shaking someone’s hand.
When your elbow hurts, ordinary tasks can quickly become uncomfortable and frustrating.
One of the most common causes is tennis elbow — but despite its name, you don’t need to play tennis to develop it. Tennis elbow is an overload injury affecting the tendons that connect the wrist-extensor muscles to the outside of the elbow. It can develop through repeated gripping, lifting, twisting, racket sports, manual work, computer use or a sudden increase in activity. However, not every painful elbow is tennis elbow. Other possible causes include:
✔ Golfer’s elbow
✔ Elbow bursitis
✔ Nerve irritation
✔ Elbow arthritis
✔ Muscle or ligament strains
✔ Injuries following a fall or sudden overload
Signs that your elbow may need professional attention include:
⚠️ Pain or tenderness on the outside or inside of the elbow
⚠️ Pain when gripping, lifting or twisting
⚠️ Reduced grip strength
⚠️ Pain when extending your wrist or fingers
⚠️ Stiffness or restricted movement
⚠️ Tingling, numbness or weakness
⚠️ Symptoms affecting your work, sport or daily activities
Resting completely is not always the answer. The right balance between reducing aggravating activities and gradually rebuilding the tendon’s capacity is an important part of recovery.
At Premier Clinic, your physiotherapy programme may include:
💙 A detailed clinical and movement assessment
💙 Advice on modifying aggravating activities
💙 Strategies to manage pain
💙 Gentle mobility and stretching exercises
💙 Progressive wrist, forearm and grip strengthening
💙 Technique and ergonomic guidance
💙 Support returning safely to work, exercise or sport
💙 Bracing, taping or other treatments when clinically appropriate
There is no one-size-fits-all exercise programme. Your rehabilitation should reflect the cause of your pain, how long you have experienced symptoms, your current tendon tolerance and what you need your arm to do.
Recovery times vary, but a structured, progressive programme can help you regain strength, improve function and return to the activities that matter to you.
Don’t keep working around elbow pain. Let’s assess the problem properly and help you move forward.

SHOULDER PAIN ISN’T SOMETHING YOU JUST HAVE TO LIVE WITH
When your shoulder hurts, even the simplest parts of everyday life can become difficult — getting dressed, washing your hair, reaching into a cupboard, driving or finding a comfortable position in bed. Shoulder pain can develop gradually through repetitive movement, work, sport, posture or age-related changes. It can also begin suddenly following a fall, strain or other injury.
Common shoulder conditions include:
✔ Rotator cuff tendinopathy or tear
✔ Shoulder impingement and subacromial pain
✔ Frozen shoulder
✔ Shoulder instability or dislocation
✔ AC joint arthritis
✔ Biceps or calcific tendinitis
✔ Labral tears
✔ Shoulder bursitis
✔ Muscle strains
Although these conditions can produce similar symptoms, they may require very different approaches to recovery. That is why a thorough assessment matters. Signs that your shoulder may need professional attention include:
⚠️ Pain when lifting or reaching overhead
⚠️ Weakness in the shoulder or arm
⚠️ Increasing stiffness or restricted movement
⚠️ Pain that interrupts your sleep
⚠️ Clicking, catching or a feeling of instability
⚠️ Difficulty working, exercising or completing daily activities
⚠️ Symptoms that are not improving after a few weeks
At Premier Clinic, we look beyond the painful area to understand how your shoulder is moving, what may be contributing to the problem and how it is affecting your everyday life.
Depending on your individual needs, physiotherapy may include:
💙 Pain management and manual therapy
💙 Joint mobilisation
💙 Rotator cuff strengthening
💙 Shoulder-blade stabilisation
💙 Stretching and mobility exercises
💙 Postural and movement correction
💙 Taping or dry needling, when clinically appropriate
💙 A personalised rehabilitation programme
💙 Support returning safely to work, sport and normal activities
There is no single exercise or treatment that is right for every painful shoulder. Your rehabilitation should reflect your condition, symptoms, goals and current level of movement.
Early, evidence-based physiotherapy can help reduce pain, restore strength and mobility, improve shoulder function and reduce the risk of the problem becoming persistent.
Don’t just put up with shoulder pain. Let’s find out what is happening and help you move forward.

Heel Pain Every Morning? It Could Be Plantar Fasciitis.

Does taking your first few steps out of bed leave you with a sharp pain in your heel?

You’re not alone. One of the most common causes of persistent heel pain is plantar fasciitis - a condition caused by irritation and degeneration of the plantar fascia, the thick band of tissue that supports the arch of your foot.

Without the right treatment, plantar fasciitis can begin to affect every aspect of your daily life, from walking and exercising to working and simply enjoying time with your family.

There is good news!!!

At Premier Clinic, we offer Shockwave Therapy - a clinically supported, non-invasive treatment designed to help your body heal naturally. Rather than masking the pain, Shockwave Therapy delivers targeted acoustic waves to the injured tissue, helping to:

✅ Stimulate your body’s natural healing response
✅ Increase blood flow to damaged tissue
✅ Encourage tissue repair and regeneration
✅ Reduce chronic inflammation and persistent pain
✅ Improve mobility and function
✅ Help you recover without injections or surgery

Research and clinical experience show that Shockwave Therapy can be particularly effective for long-standing plantar fasciitis, especially when other conservative treatments haven’t provided lasting relief.

Another 5-Star review from Dale

I booked an appointment at Premier Clinic for plantar fasciitis treatment and was really impressed with the level of care. The podiatrist explained everything clearly and recommended orthotics along with shockwave therapy, which has made a huge difference to my foot pain. Friendly staff, excellent service, and a very professional rehabilitation clinic in Blackburn. Highly recommended if you need a physiotherapist near Blackburn or treatment for sports injuries and foot
