Care should be personal.

Everyone has their own routines, preferences and ways of doing things.

That's why personalised care isn't simply about completing tasks. It's about getting to know the individual and understanding what matters to them.

Whether it's their morning routine, favourite activities, meals or simply how they like things done, those personal details can make a big difference.

Support should fit around someone's life β€” not make their life fit around their care.

πŸ’¬ What's one part of your daily routine that you'd never want to change?

Myth vs Fact: β€œIt’s too early to think about care.” πŸ’

Myth: You only need to think about care when you can no longer manage on your own.

Fact: Thinking about care early doesn’t mean you need it right now. πŸ’š

Having a conversation about care sooner can give you and your loved ones time to explore the options, plan ahead and make decisions without feeling rushed.

Good care is about supporting independence, not taking it away.

Sometimes, being prepared is one of the best ways to feel confident about the future. 🏑

🏠 For many people, home means much more than a place to live.

It's where routines have been built, memories have been made and familiar surroundings provide comfort and reassurance.

As someone's needs change, everyday life can become more difficult. But needing support doesn't automatically mean someone has to leave the home they know.

Personalised home care can provide support with everyday routines, personal care, meals, companionship and much more β€” while helping someone maintain as much independence as possible.

The goal isn't to take over someone's life. It's to support them to continue living it. πŸ’™

πŸ“Έ Introducing Katie β€” Care Administrator

Please join us in welcoming Katie to the team!

We’re delighted to introduce Katie, who has recently joined our office team as our new Care Administrator.

Katie brings with her several years of experience within the care sector, supporting children, young people and older adults, including individuals with complex needs such as dementia, autism and learning disabilities.

We’re really pleased to have Katie on board and look forward to the knowledge, experience and enthusiasm she will bring to the team and the people we support.

Here’s a little more about Katie, in her own words:

β€œI’m Katie, the new addition to the office team as Care Administrator. A little bit about me – I am currently in the wedding planning stages for April next year, we have 2 French Bulldogs (Willow & Olive) who we adopted from Bleakholt, and I have a Psychology degree!

Regarding my work, I have multiple years of experience within the care sector – having worked with children, young people, and older adults – providing both 1:1 support and group care. A lot of my work has been supporting individuals with complex needs, such as dementia, autism, and learning disabilities.

The variety of experience I have gained has increased my confidence and knowledge of providing care, which I believe will help me support the team and our clients in the best way possible!”

Welcome to the team, Katie! 🌸 We’re very happy to have you with us.

Myth vs Fact: Home care is only about personal care 🏠

Myth: Home care is just about helping with washing, dressing and other personal care.

Fact: Home care is about so much more. ❀️

It can mean helping someone stay independent, supporting them with meals, medication, shopping, household tasks, appointments, or simply providing companionship and a friendly face.

Every person is different, which is why good home care is built around what matters most to the individual.

Because care isn't just about the tasks β€” it's about helping people live well, in the place they call home. πŸ’š

From all of us, we wish you a wonderful retirement filled with happiness, relaxation and plenty of time to enjoy the things you love.

Looking After Yourself When Caring for Someone Else πŸ’š

When you're caring for a loved one, it's easy to put their needs before your own. But looking after yourself is just as important.

Remember to:

β€’ Take regular breaks β€” even a little time for yourself can help you recharge.
β€’ Accept help β€” you don't have to manage everything alone.
β€’ Stay connected β€” make time for friends, family and the things you enjoy.
β€’ Look after your health β€” your physical and emotional wellbeing matters too.
β€’ Don't feel guilty about asking for support β€” needing help doesn't mean you're not coping or that you're letting someone down.

Caring can be demanding, and recognising when you need support is an important part of caring well.

You can't pour from an empty cup. Looking after yourself is part of caring too. πŸ’š

πŸ’‘ Myth vs Fact: Dementia care means someone can't live at home.

❌ Myth: A diagnosis of dementia automatically means someone has to leave their own home.

βœ… Fact: With the right support, many people living with dementia can continue living at home, surrounded by familiar routines, surroundings and the people who matter to them.

Home care can provide support with everyday activities, companionship, routines and personal care, while encouraging someone to remain as independent as possible.

Every person living with dementia is different, so the right approach will always depend on their individual needs and circumstances. πŸ’™

If you or someone you love is living with dementia and you're unsure what support is available, we're always here for a conversation.
