Public health is responsible for the delivery of a wide range of services including stop smoking, alcohol and drug misuse services, public health services for children and young people aged five to 19, the national Child Measurement Programme, weight management, NHS Health Checks, accidental injury prevention, dealing with health protection incidents and sexual health services.

We’re delighted to share the launch of the new Dementia Hub, bringing together information, advice, activities and support for people living with dementia, their families and carers.

A dementia diagnosis can be life-changing, but no one has to face it alone. Having the right support at the right time can make a real difference for both individuals and those who care for them

πŸ“… The first Dementia Hub session takes place tomorrow, offering an opportunity to meet others, find out what support is available and learn more about living well with dementia.

Whether you're looking for information, social opportunities, or local support, the Dementia Hub is here to help.
This initiative has been developed in partnership with Age UK Blackburn With Darwen Alzheimer's Society Blackburn Rovers Community Trust Blackburn Carers Carers Link Lancashire working together to help people stay connected, informed and supported.

The Cervical Screening Bus is returning to Blackburn!
Are you overdue your cervical screening or have never had one before?
Make sure you drop in to the bus on the following dates when it suits you, no appointment needed.
πŸ“† Monday 27 July | 11am – 4pm - Lidl Furthergate, Blackburn
πŸ“† Tuesday 18 August | 11am – 4pm - Bangor St Community Centre, Norwich St, Blackburn
πŸ“† Thursday 17 September |11am – 4pm - Blackburn College, Fielden St, Blackburn
The appointment takes less than 10 minutes with the screening taking place in the safe, comfortable, private space on board the Living Well bus, a lot like your GP practice. Female NHS staff will also be there to put you at ease and carry out the screening.
Cervical screening can save lives and is one of the most effective ways to prevent cervical cancer. It checks for HPV (human papillomavirus) which can cause cervical cancer. Screening can identify changes and treatment given before any changes can turn into cervical cancer.
It’s offered to women from the age of 25 to 64.

Today is Samaritans Awareness Day (24/7) – a reminder that support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for anyone who is struggling or needs someone to listen.

As part of our Be Well Daily campaign, we're encouraging everyone to take a moment to check in with themselves and the people around them. A simple conversation can make a big difference.

You don't have to be in crisis to contact Samaritans. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, worried, lonely or finding life difficult, their volunteers are there to listen without judgement.
