Could you be a "ghost patient"? 👻

❌Don't risk being removed from your GP practice.❌
What is a ‘ghost patient’?

A Ghost Patient is someone who has been incorrectly removed from their GP practice list during the NHS patient list validation process. This can happen if your details cannot be confirmed.

What you need to know👈
You may receive a letter from NHS England or Primary Care Support England (PCSE) as part of a routine process to check that GP patient records are accurate and up to date. This helps ensure GP practice lists remain correct.

Why this matters to you❓
1. You stay registered with your GP and can access care
2. You receive NHS communications, such as screening, vaccinations etc
3. Your Practice gets the correct funding to care for registered patients

👉What you need to do
If you get a letter from NHS/PCSE asking you to confirm your details, please respond. Do NOT ignore it.
- Follow the instructions in the letter.
- Confirm your details are correct.
- Let us know as soon as possible if you have moved.

What happens if you do not respond👈
If you do not respond, PCSE may remove you from the practice without you knowing it. If you get removed, you will not be able to get an appointment with a GP until you re- register.

❓Need help❓
Contact your practice.
If you have friends or relatives who are patients, but have not contacted their practice in the last 3 years please encourage them to get in touch to update or confirm their details.

Cancer Support & Advice Drop-In Clinic 🩺

Do you have worries or questions about cancer symptoms, screenings, or support, but aren't sure where to start? We are here to listen.

We are running a Cancer Drop-In Clinic at the Hub on Highfield road. This is a safe, supportive space designed to help you understand your next steps and discuss your options.

What you need to know:
💬 It is just a chat: This session is an informal conversation to talk through your concerns and options.
❌ No examinations: You will not be clinically examined during this visit.
❌ No diagnosis: A diagnosis will not be given at this appointment.

What happens next?
If, during our chat, we feel you need to be seen by a doctor, we can book you a GP appointment for the following Saturday morning (subject to availability).

There is no need to book for the drop-in clinic—just come along and speak to our friendly team.

✈️ Jetting off on holiday soon? Make sure your health is packed and ready to go☀️

If you are planning a trip abroad this summer, the team at Highfield Surgery wants to help you stay safe and healthy. Before you start packing your bags, here are two important things to tick off your travel checklist:

💉 1. Check Your Travel Vaccines
Did you know that some countries require specific vaccinations or malaria medication, while others don't?
Check early: Some vaccines need to be given several weeks before you travel to be fully effective. We recommend checking your destination's requirements at least 6 to 8 weeks before you depart.
How to check: You can find up-to-date travel health advice for your destination on the NHS Fit for Travel website.
Get in touch: If you need vaccines for your trip, please contact us or visit our website to see how we can help.

💊 2. Order Your Prescriptions on Time
Don't let running out of important medication put a dampener on your holiday!
Plan ahead: Please check your medication levels and order any repeat prescriptions in good time before you travel.
Processing time: Please remember to allow at least 2 working days for us to process your repeat prescription, plus additional time for your pharmacy to get it ready for collection.

Beat the queue: The quickest and easiest way to order your repeat prescriptions is via the NHS App directly from your smartphone.

Safe travels and have a wonderful holiday! 🏖️🧳

📱How to use Accurx at Highfield Surgery: Appointments & Prescriptions Made Easy! 📱

Did you know you can bypass the morning phone queues by contacting us online?
At Highfield Surgery, we use Accurx—a quick, safe, and simple online triage tool that allows you to request appointments, ask medical questions, and order your repeat prescriptions directly from your phone, tablet, or computer.

Here is a quick guide on how it works:
🩺 1. Requesting an Appointment (Medical Requests)
If you are feeling unwell or need to see a healthcare professional:
Go to our website: Click the Accurx banner on our homepage at https://highfieldsurgeryblackpool.nhs.uk/
Click Appointments then scroll down half way and find 'Start here'.
Describe your symptoms: Answer a few simple questions about your condition, how long you've had it, and your preferred contact method.
What happens next? Your request is sent directly to our triage team. A GP or clinician reviews your symptoms to ensure you get the right care, with the right person, in the right timeframe. We will then contact you via text or phone with an appointment or medical advice.

💊 2. Ordering Repeat Prescriptions (Admin Requests)
Need to order your regular medication?
On our website click on 'prescriptions' then 'order your repeat prescription'
Enter your details: Tell us who you are and list the specific medications you need to order.
What happens next? Our prescribing team will process your request. Please remember to allow 2 to 3 working days for your prescription to be signed and sent to your nominated pharmacy.

You can also change your personal details and order fit notes.
