Walking for Mum 💙

This year, Blue Skies Head of Charity, Kila, and her two brothers will be taking part in our Forever in Our Hearts, a Walk to Remember in memory of their mum, who they sadly lost earlier this year.

In this video, Kila shares why the event means so much to her family and how walking together will be a special way to honour her mum's memory. 💙

💙 One year ago, Peter Franklin’s life changed forever.

Just 24 hours into his dream honeymoon with his wife Kim, Peter suffered a massive heart attack in the Caribbean. After fighting for his life overseas, returning to Blackpool Victoria Hospital, and later being diagnosed with severe heart failure, he was determined not to let his diagnosis define him.

Now, almost a year on, Peter is taking on the Fleetwood Half Marathon this Sunday in support of Blue Skies.

From struggling to survive to training for 13.1 miles, Peter’s journey is nothing short of inspirational. 💙

So far, he has raised £485 for Blue Skies, and every donation will help enhance patient care across our hospitals.

🚴‍♂️ 170 miles. One day. One incredible cause. 💙

On 26 August, Mike will take on a solo 170-mile coast-to-coast cycling challenge in support of Blue Skies and the Haematology Unit.

"I chose to commit to this challenge raising funds for Blue Skies as I wanted to express my sincere gratitude to the doctors and staff in the Haematology Unit for the outstanding care they have provided to my wife Carole through two bouts of illness," said Mike.

Mike has already smashed his original fundraising target of £1,000, raising an incredible £1,300 so far! 🎉 All profits raised will go directly to the Haematology Unit.

🎶✨ We're delighted to share that An Evening of Swing raised an incredible £2,527 for Blue Skies Hospitals Fund! ✨🎶

💙 Giving Babies the Best Start 💙

Thanks to £221.88 funding from Blue Skies, the Baby Steps programme can now use new sensory and developmental resources to support babies and their parents.

From sensory toys and baby books to a large soft play mat, these resources will help families build confidence, strengthen bonding and support healthy early development.

Delivered through local Family Hubs, Baby Steps supports between 100 and 200 babies and their parents each year across Blackpool.

🍋💙 A huge thank you to Hope, who raised an incredible £172 for Blue Skies by making and selling fresh lemonade!

Hope chose to support the Neonatal Unit at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, a cause that is very close to her heart as she spent time on the unit herself when she was born.

Thank you, Hope, for your amazing fundraising and for giving back to the ward that helped you at the very start of your journey. 🌟

One of our dedicated Blue Skies volunteers, Emily, will be taking part in Forever in Our Hearts, A Walk to Remember in memory of three very special people in her life, her Grandad, Nana and Papa.

Emily said: "I'm walking to remember my Grandad, Nana and Papa. They are always in my thoughts and this is a special way for me to remember them while supporting others."

Forever in Our Hearts is an opportunity to come together, remember loved ones we miss, and celebrate the memories that will stay with us forever.
