SEPTEMBER SUPPORT MEETING

Our next Diverse Minds Community support meeting is:

๐Ÿ“… Monday 21st September
โฐ 6pm to 8pm
๐Ÿ“ CAMHS

This month weโ€™ll also be joined briefly by Johnny Kheir from CAMHS, who will be bringing along some information around the neurodevelopmental assessment process and what happens next.

Johnny would really like to hear feedback directly from parents before this information is made available on the CAMHS website, so this is a great opportunity to have your say and help make the information clearer and more useful for families.

As always, our usual parent support meeting will continue around this and everyone is welcome. No diagnosis necessary.

โœจ FRIDAY THOUGHT โœจ

The first few days back at school donโ€™t have to tell the story of the whole year.

Some children will have bounced through the doors.
Some will have held it together all day and fallen apart at home.
Some will still be finding their feet.

And some parents will be feeling it just as much as their children.

New routines take time. New people take time. Feeling safe takes time.

One day at a time.

Back to school tomorrow ๐Ÿ“š

To all of our children, young people and families heading back to school tomorrow, weโ€™re thinking of you.

Whether itโ€™s a brand new school, a new classroom, new teachers, or simply getting back through those doors after the summer, we know tomorrow can bring a lot of emotions.

Excitement, nerves, worry, overwhelmโ€ฆ sometimes all at once.

Iโ€™m feeling it myself as a mum this morning, and I know I wonโ€™t be the only one. ๐Ÿฅน

So from all of us at Diverse Minds Community, good luck to every single one of you.

Take tomorrow one step at a time. However the first day goes, itโ€™s just the first day.

Sending so much love and all the good vibes for a gentle start to the new school year. ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿฉต๐Ÿ’š

Tomorrow we open our virtual doors for the first time for our OPEN DAY. Thank you all so much for the support and pushing me in this direction to follow my dreams. It may not go to plan and I may be forced to return to traditional teaching in the future but with the uncertainty of the SEND reforms and lack of support for children with ADHD I have to do this NOW! I believe that these children deserve the right to understand their brains and when they know, understand the why and unlock tools and strategies it will have a positive outcome on their lives. Proud of this programme and I know my younger self would have massively benefited from this.

๐Ÿ’™ ManxLife: Behind the Island โ€” Episode 1

Iโ€™m so excited to share the first in our new Behind the Island series โ€” where we sit down with the people behind the businesses, organisations, charities and community projects that make our Island so special.

It was an honour to sit down with Nic Whitlam from Diverse Minds Community after supporting the incredible Miles That Matter team.

We wanted to hear more about the work Diverse Minds does for neurodivergent children, young people and their families โ€” and the support available here on the Island.

And keep watching to hear about the amazing plans for the money raised through Miles That Matter, and how it will be used right here on the Island to support and celebrate our children. ๐Ÿ’™

Real people. Real stories. Real Island life. ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฒ

โœจ FRIDAY THOUGHT โœจ

With the return to school just around the corner, we know that for many families, tensions are rising, apprehension is growing and anxiety is starting to take over.

New classrooms, new teachers, new routines, new expectations, or simply returning after the summer break can feel like a lot.

Remember, you donโ€™t have to have all the answers.

Take it one day at a time. Be kind to yourselves and to your children. And if things are feeling overwhelming, reach out. Weโ€™re here.

Youโ€™ve got this ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿฉต๐Ÿ’š
