Supporting a gentleman with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI)

Fancy a support role that looks a little different from the usual care job?

How would you feel about getting paid to go to the gym, head out for a drive in an Audi Q3, enjoy a meal out, get involved in social activities or spend an afternoon on the sidelines watching the children play football?

Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it?

We’re looking for the right Support Worker to join the team supporting one of our clients who lives in Preston.

Our client has an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and enjoys getting out and about, staying active and maintaining the things that are important to him.

🚗 A typical shift could include:

💛 Supporting him to attend the gym
💛 Driving his Audi Q3 and getting out into the community
💛 Going out for meals
💛 Supporting social activities and appointments
💛 Going to watch the children play football
💛 Encouraging independence, confidence and choice
💛 Providing appropriate support around the effects of his ABI
💛 And sometimes simply being good company!

This is very much a person-centred role. We’re not looking for someone who wants to take over — we want someone who understands that great support is about enabling a person to continue living their life, their way.

Baxter Life Care is recruiting an experienced Male Support Worker to join a dedicated care team supporting a fantastic gentleman with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) in the PR2 area.

This isn’t your average care role. We’re looking for someone who can bring experience, personality, patience and a great sense of humour to the job – someone who understands that great support is about helping a person live their life, their way. 💙

🌟 Could you be our superstar?

There are a few non-negotiables for this particular role:

🧠 Previous ABI experience
You’ll need a good understanding of supporting someone living with an acquired brain injury and the confidence to provide safe, person-centred support.

🚗 A full, clean UK driving licence
Our client has his own vehicle for use during your shift, so you don’t need to provide a car – just the licence and sensible driving skills. Fast & Furious auditions are definitely not required! 😄

🔍 DBS registered on the Update Service
We’re looking for someone who can get started quickly, so an existing Enhanced DBS registered with the Update Service is essential.

💷 £18.00 per hour

⏰ Up to 40 hours per week available

🕗 10-hour daytime shifts – 08:00 to 18:00

📍 PR2 – Preston area

🚘 Client vehicle available during shifts

Most importantly, we’re looking for the right person. Someone reliable, confident and professional who can build a genuine working relationship with our client while supporting his independence, choices and quality of life.

Today saw our girl Amy walking around Stanley Park with the family and friends of Kirsty. Fondly known as Kirstys gang.

Kirsty was one of the carers that joined Baxters right at the start when we first opened in 2014 she started working with Amy when Amy first came to us and a beautiful friendship followed.

Sadly Kirsty passed from Cancer but shes never been forgotten not by Amy not by her family and not by us at Baxters.

Today would have been Kirstys Birthday so Amy decided she wanted to do a sponsored walk in her memory and raise some much needed funds for Cancer Research UK. Amy has been training hard and has kept in touch with Olga Kirstys mum. So today was the day and as you can see Kirstys gang did her proud.
